The senior pitcher struck out 13 and allowed one hit in seven innings for the Skyhawks in a 6-0 non-conference win against Harvard. David Virgo led Johnsburg (4-5) offensively, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Colin Carpenter had the lone hit for Harvard (6-5). CL Central 6, Vernon Hills 3: At Vernon Hills, Tony Castranova and Nick Knoeppel each drove in two runs for Central (5-3), and the Tigers won a non-conference game. Huntley 8, Wauconda 4: At Wauconda, Zach Liebman struck out five and limited the Bulldogs to four hits, as the Red Raiders won in non-conference play. Craig Lipp scored twice, doubled and drove in a run for Huntley (9-1-1). McHenry 9, Grant 4: At Fox Lake, senior outfielder Nick Brennan drove in three runs for McHenry (8-4) in a non-conference win. Cary-Grove 14, Antioch 0 (5 inn.): At Antioch, Nick Hammonds homered and drove in two runs, Eric Chandler tripled and drove in two runs, and the Trojans (7-4-1) defeated the Sequoits in non-conference action. Hersey 6, Dundee-Crown 3 (8 inn.): At Carpentersville, Jake Romano hit a tying home run in the bottom of the seventh, but the Chargers gave up three runs in the top of the eighth in a non-conference loss. Gurnee Warren Triangular: Crystal Lake South defeated Warren, 5-2, and Palatine, 17-5. James Vazquez went 5-for-8 with five RBIs over the two games for South (8-4). Hampshire 7-10, Indian Creek 12-5: At Shabbona, Hampshire (6-6) split a non-conference doubleheader. Joe Moore was 5-for-9 and drove in two runs for Hampshire on the day. Kaneland 10-9, Marengo 3-0: At Maple Park, Jake Tucker went 1-for-2 in each game to lead the Indians (2-10), as they lost two non-conference games. TENNIS Jefferson Invitational: At Rockford, Mike Kamper and McKenzie Roeser won two of their three matches at No. 2 doubles for Huntley, but the Red Raiders lost to Rochelle and Jefferson, 3-2, and to Sterling Newman, 5-0. CL South Quad: The Gators (5-0) went 3-0, beating Bartlett and DeKalb, 4-1, and Wheaton Warrenville South, 3-2. TRACK Riverside-Brookfield Invitational: At Brookfield, Parker Woodall won the shot put (47 feet 41⁄4 inches) and placed fourth in the discus (130-10) to lead Woodstock to 58 points and a fourth-place finish at the 11-team event. Jacobs (61 points) was led by Jake Lawson (13-6), who won the pole vault to lead the Golden Eagles to a third-place finish. Dixon won the meet with 98 points. Conant Relays: At Hoffman Estates, Dundee-Crown won the 4x1,600-meter relay (19:01), triple jump relay (155-10), sophomore 4x400 relay (3:48) and varsity 4x400 relay (3:35), and the Chargers placed second with 139 points. Conant won the meet with 154 points. Don Gooden Invitational: At Mendota, Harvard’s Miguel Flores took third in the shot put (128-91⁄2), and Cody Kramer placed third in the 200 (22.94 seconds) as the Hornets placed eighth (39).
