Huntley baseball team tops Woodstock

WOODSTOCK – Zach Liebman pitched 51⁄3 innings as he struck out nine, walked one and allowed three runs Wednesday in Huntley’s 7-5, Fox Valley Conference crossover win against Woodstock.

Tanner Funke earned the save, allowing two hits while striking out three and walking one in 12⁄3 innings.

Offensively, Huntley (13-2-1) was led by Chris Klein (2-for-3, home run, two RBIs) and Funke (3-for-4, solo homer) as the Raiders slugged out 10 hits.

Garrett Gee (home run, two RBIs) and Tom Wilson (2-for-4, RBI) led Woodstock (8-6).

CL South 6, Johnsburg 0: At Crystal Lake, Ian Gardeck (3-0) threw five shutout innings to get the win for the Gators
(11-5) in their FVC crossover win against the Skyhawks (4-9).

McHenry 11, Grayslake Central 0: At McHenry, Ryan Clark homered to lead the Warriors (12-5) to an FVC crossover win against the Rams (10-5).

Jacobs 13, Grayslake North 2 (5 inn.): At Algonquin, Johnny Amann went 3-for-3 with two home runs and six RBIs for the Eagles (7-11) in an FVC crossover win against the Knights (3-10).

CL Central 10, Dundee-Crown 5: At Carpentersville, Connor Buxton (2-for-3) and Will Streit (2-for-4, RBI) led the Tigers (8-7)
as they scored eight runs in the sixth to bust open what had been a close FVC crossover game against D-C (3-9).

Hampshire 10, Harvard 5 (5 inn.): At Hampshire, Ryan Burke (2-0) limited the Hornets (11-6 overall, 2-1 Big Northern Conference East) to one hit, and the Whip-Purs (11-7, 2-1) cruised to a BNC East win.

Richmond-Burton 12, Marengo 1 (6 inn.): At Marengo, the Rockets (3-12, 2-1 BNC East) tallied 12 hits and were led by Trevor VonBruenchenhein’s 3-for-4 day as they beat conference rival Marengo (2-13, 0-1).

St. Edward 10, Marian Central 4: At Elgin, Andy Stochl (2-for-3, solo homer) led the Hurricanes (9-5, 4-2 Suburban Catholic Conference) in their SCC loss.

Prairie Ridge 7, Huntley 0: At Huntley, Craig Greenwald won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-0, and Connor Greenwald won at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0, in an FVC sweep for the Wolves (5-0 FVC) against the Red Raiders (1-6, 0-5).

CL South 7, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, Cam Laktash won at No. 1 singles and Alec Shimon won at No. 3 singles to lead the Gators (8-0, 5-0) to an FVC win against the Chargers (1-8, 0-5).

Grayslake Central 4, McHenry 3: At McHenry, Mitch Granger’s 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles led the Rams in their FVC win against the Warriors. Matt Brophy and Andy Backhaus won at No. 3 doubles, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, to lead McHenry.

Woodstock 5, Marian Central 2: At Woodstock, Luke Kunzie and Ryan Miller won at No. 1
doubles, 6-4, 6-2, to lead the Blue Streaks (4-3) past the Hurricanes. Matt Butler won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-0, to lead Marian.

Johnsburg 5, Marengo 0: At Marengo, Jon Frantz and Chris Goulet won, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 1 doubles to help lead the Skyhawks in their non-conference win against the Indians (0-11).

Jacobs 7, Grant 0: At Algonquin, Tom Schreiner won at No. 1 singles and Colin Forbes won at No. 2 singles as part of the Eagles sweep in non-conference action.

Lake Zurich 4, Cary-Grove 1: At Lake Zurich, Cory Tatman and Danny Eggensammer won at No. 1 doubles, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3, in the Trojans’ non-conference loss.
