Pitcher Parr paces Marian

LOMBARD – Marian
Central baseball coach Gregg Wikierak expected to see a strong performance Thursday from junior pitcher Dave Parr against Montini.

Wikierak got what he wanted as Parr threw a complete-game shutout and the Hurricanes won, 3-0, in Suburban Catholic Conference play. Wikierak said Parr was effective.

“He only threw 88 pitches and had only one inning where he threw more than 15 pitches,” Wikierak said. “That’s what we expect from him; he has been one of our most constant throwers this year.”

Jack Kosar had two hits and an RBI for Marian (10-5, 5-2).

CL South 7, Grayslake Central 6: At Grayslake, Ian Gardeck had three hits, including a home run, and the Gators won the FVC crossover.

Easton Kowalski had three RBIs for South (12-5). Kurt Schmidt hit a three-run homer for the Rams (10-6).

Prairie Ridge 10, Jacobs 3: At Crystal Lake, Nolan Jacoby homered and had two RBIs as the Wolves won the Fox Valley Conference crossover.

Dan Rowe had three hits, scored a run and had an RBI for Prairie Ridge (13-5). Patton Hofer doubled to lead the Golden Eagles (7-12).

Johnsburg 8, Dundee-Crown 6: At Johnsburg, Jerad Grundy had four hits with two doubles as Johnsburg (5-10) won the FVC crossover.

Willy Larsen had two hits and an RBI for the Chargers (3-10).

Richmond-Burton 4, North Boone 3: At Richmond, the Rockets rallied from a 3-0 deficit to get the Big Northern Conference East Division win.

Ray Wojciechowski struck out four in six innings to get the win, and Danny Schuler had two RBIs for R-B (5-11, 3-1).

Burlington Central 11, Harvard 0 (5 inn.): At Harvard, Chase Blazier struck out two but took the loss for Harvard (11-7, 2-2) in BNC East play.

Hampshire 13, Marengo 1:
At Marengo, Ryan Burke had three hits, and Hampshire won a BNC East game.

Matt Kuefner added a double for Hampshire (12-7, 3-1). AJ Lohff took the loss but added a double and scored for the Indians (2-14, 0-2).

Alden-Hebron 7, Maranatha Baptist 0: At Hebron, Mark Winkelman struck out 16 and gave up one hit in Indian Trails Conference play for the Giants (8-3, 6-0).

TENNIS

CL South 6, Johnsburg 1: At Crystal Lake, Cam Laktash won at No. 1 singles to lead the Gators to the FVC win.

Jared Favaro added a win at No. 2 singles for South (9-0, 6-0). Dan Fox won at No. 3 singles for the only win for Johnsburg.

Prairie Ridge 7, Grayslake North 0: At Crystal Lake, Craig and Connor Greenwald won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and the Wolves won the FVC match with the Knights.

CL Central 6, Huntley 1: At Crystal Lake, Tommy Nelson won at No. 1 singles as the Tigers won the FVC match.

Tyler George added a win at No. 2 singles for Central. Mike Habrat and McKenz Roeser won at No. 2 doubles for Huntley.

Cary-Grove 5, Woodstock 2: At Cary, Chris Federighi, Eric Schimmel and Rory Saylor swept the singles matches for Cary-Grove (11-1, 5-0 FVC) in FVC play. Woodstock’s Josh Ruben and Louis Ortiz won the No. 4 doubles match, 6-7, 7-5, 6-1.

Marmion 5, Marian Central 0: At Aurora, Marian Central was shut out against Marmion in Suburban Catholic Conference play.

TRACK

Rocket Relays: At Burlington, Aaron Reams won the 110 high hurdles (15.09) and triple jump (45-7) to lead Dundee-Crown to the win in the eight-team event. D-C finished with 1611⁄2 points while Hampshire (451⁄2) took fifth place.

Ray Quesada finished second in the 300 intermediate hurdles (42.48) behind D-C’s Max Kittle for the Whip-Purs’ best finish.
