Pitchers’ duel ends with victory for J’burg, Daly

GRAYSLAKE – In a game in which both starting pitchers brought their best stuff to the circle Monday, Johnsburg’s Amanda Daly prevailed with a 3-0 Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win against Grayslake North.

Daly (8-4-1) limited the Knights to one hit, struck out 14 and went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Samantha Myers struck out 15 for North (5-14, 2-5), and Mindy Runge got the lone hit for the Knights.

Sam Gorski went 1-for-3
with a run for the Skyhawks (11-6-1, 5-1).

Prairie Ridge 13, CL Central 1 (6 inn.): At Crystal Lake, Lexi Wachman (home run, two RBIs) and Katie Schillinger (two triples, two runs) led the Wolves (19-5, 6-0) in their FVC Fox win against the Tigers. Brittany York
(2-for-3) led Central (4-12, 1-5).

Huntley 12, Grayslake Central 2 (6 inn.): At Huntley, Deana DeBosschere had a home run, double and five RBIs, and Kelsey Hagen had a home run and two RBIs to lead the Red Raiders (15-9, 5-2) past the Rams (3-16, 0-6) in FVC Fox play. Sam Clemons (14-7) limited Central to three hits and struck out five to earn the win.

Woodstock 1, Cary-Grove 0: At Woodstock, Taylor Schulty (5-2) struck out 10 and tossed a four-hit shutout, and Abby Haubold went 2-for-3 and drove in the only run for the Blue Streaks (8-13, 4-2) in their FVC Valley victory against the Trojans (10-11, 3-3).

C-G’s Lindsey Marshall (5-7) struck out eight and allowed three hits and two walks. Woodstock’s run was unearned.

CL South 11, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, South senior pitcher Emily Mahoney (10-4) pitched a two-hit shutout against D-C (4-11, 0-5) in FVC Valley play. Mahoney also went 2-for-5 and drove in three runs for the Gators (15-6, 3-3)

Jacobs 6, McHenry 3: At Algonquin, Jenna Teson went 3-for-3 and drove in a run for the Golden Eagles (11-8, 5-1) in their FVC Valley victory against the Warriors (12-6, 2-3). McHenry junior Megan Gier went 2-for-3.

Rosary 10, Marian Central 3: At Woodstock, Mary Belluomini and Stephanie Robson both went 2-for-4 and drove in a run for the Hurricanes (8-10, 4-3) in their Suburban Catholic Conference loss.

Grayslake North 2, Johnsburg 1: At Grayslake, Chloe Basa and Alyssa Soulis scored one goal apiece, and the Knights (6-9, 2-4) defeated the Skyhawks (0-11, 0-6) in FVC Fox play.

Richmond-Burton 1, St. Edward 0: At Elgin, Hailey Schleibinger scored for the Rockets (11-1-2) in their non-conference victory.

Marian Central 4, Grant 0: At Woodstock, Brittany Wuensch and Tess Badorf scored two goals apiece, and the Hurricanes (12-3-0) earned a non-conference victory.

TRACK

Jacobs Triangular: Woodstock senior Lisa Kucharski won the 100-meter high hurdles (15.7 seconds) and the pole vault (9 feet) as the Blue Streaks won the FVC triangular with 68 points.

Jacobs took second with 63 points behind Lauren Wallace’s first-place finish in the 200 (27.5). Sophomore Sam Nirva won the 100 (13.1) for Prairie Ridge, which finished third with 46 points.

Huntley Triangular: Denita Brown won the 800 meters (2:28), and Cortney Wilkerson took first in the discus (120-5) and shot put (30-7) to lead Huntley (111 points) to a victory. The Red Raiders defeated Grayslake Central (35) and Grayslake North (35).
