Turner leads PR softball team

GRAYSLAKE – Johanna Turner struck out 11 in seven innings, and Prairie Ridge’s softball team hung on for a 4-3 Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win Monday against Grayslake Central. Turner improved to 21-4, and the Wolves (23-5 overall, 10-0) remained undefeated in conference play.

Lauren Seegers went 3-for-4, and Lexi Wachman went 2-for-4 with a double to lead Prairie Ridge, which had a 4-0 lead entering the bottom of the seventh inning.

Monika Wedick and Abbie Goetsch each hit home runs for the Rams (6-17, 2-7) in their comeback.

Wedick struck out eight and took the loss.

Huntley 3, Johnsburg 1: At Huntley, Deana DeBosschere went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the Red Raiders (17-10, 7-3) to an FVC Fox win against the Skyhawks.

Sam Clemons (16-8) struck out six to earn the win.

Mary Chamberlain went 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead Johnsburg.

Grayslake North 14, CL Central 4 (5 inn.): At Grayslake, Kristi Gandy went 3-for-3 and drove in four runs for the Knights
(7-16, 3-7 FVC Fox) in a win against the Tigers (4-15, 1-8).

Central sophomore Jackie Kisman went 2-for-3 and drove in four runs.

CL South 10, Woodstock 0: At Woodstock, Emily Mahoney (13-4) struck out 14 and walked none to earn the win in the Gators’ FVC Valley win. Vickie Pyan went 3-for-4 with a double, and Megan Hardie went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead South (18-6, 6-3).

Abby Haubold went 1-for-2, and Gina Willis went 1-for-3 for Woodstock (8-7, 4-5).

Taylor Schulty (7-5) struck out 11 in a losing effort.

Jacobs 10, Dundee-Crown 2: At Carpentersville, Jenna Teson went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs for the Golden Eagles (13-10, 8-3) in an FVC Valley win against the Chargers
(4-15, 0-8).

Melany Love hit two doubles and went 4-for-4 for D-C.

Genoa-Kingston 4, Harvard 3: At Genoa, Lindsay Melson (5-8) struck out nine and limited the Cogs to four hits, but she took the loss in a Big Northern Conference crossover matchup.

Kristen Weidner went 2-for-2, and
Michaela Binz went 1-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Hornets (6-13). Genoa-Kingston scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh to earn the win.

Prairie Ridge 2, Grayslake North 0: At Grayslake, Nikki Mohr and Lara Troszak each scored a goal as the Wolves (13-4-1, 6-3) defeated the Knights
(7-10, 3-5) in FVC Fox
play against the Knights.

Kyli Himm recorded eight saves for Prairie Ridge.

Huntley 5, Harlem 2: At Huntley, Aimee Wronski scored two goals and assisted on another as the Red Raiders (20-1-1) won a non-conference game.

Cary-Grove 1, Dundee-Crown 0: At Cary, Brittany Kroening scored for the Trojans (16-2, 9-0), who remained undefeated in FVC Valley play with the win against the Chargers (4-15, 2-8).

Richmond-Burton 2, Burlington Central 1: At Burlington, Blair Rummel and Hailey Schleibinger both scored in the second half for R-B (13-2-2, 6-2) in a BNC East victory.

Hampshire 2, Illinois Math and Science Academy 1: At Aurora, Christine Schumacher scored twice for the Whip-Purs (10-3-3) in a non-conference win.
