Larkin won the 100-meter dash and ran on two winning relays for the Red Raiders, who took second place in the Fox Valley Conference Meet last Friday at Crystal Lake Central’s Owen Metcalf Field.

Larkin teamed with Hansen, Matt Hammer and Josh Sivila to win the 4x100 and 4x200 relays.

SFlbGirls

Taylor Cordes

Crystal Lake Central, Senior

Cordes qualified for her third trip to the IHSA state meet, this time in four events, as the Tigers took third place at the Class 2A Grayslake North Sectional.

Cordes qualified in the 100-meter high and 300 low hurdles, and showed her versatility by running on the 4x800 and 4x200 relay teams that qualified.

Central’s 4x800 team of Cordes, Stephanie Peisker, Molly Flood and Taylor Miller had the third-fastest time out of sectionals for teams running at state.

Noteworthy

Local Class 2A medal hopefuls:

• Crystal Lake Central’s 4x800 relay team (Taylor Cordes, Stephanie Peisker, Molly Flood and Taylor Miller).

• Marian Central’s Amy Miskowicz (shot put), Marengo’s Sarah Sprague (3,200) and Central’s Cordes (300 low hurdles).

• Richmond-Burton’s Lindsey Wilkins is seeded among the top three times in both the 800 and 1,600 runs. It’s a difficult double, but she might be able to become a double medalist.

Local Class 3A medal hopefuls:

• McHenry’s Ashley Conway is ranked in the top five in long and high jump out of sectionals.

• Huntley’s Amy Fanella had the fourth-best triple jump and also could make the 300 low hurdles finals.

The boys Class 2A and 3A sectionals will be Friday or Saturday.
