Johanna Turner
Prairie Ridge jr., P
Turner, the Northwest Herald Softball Player of the Year, finished her season 32-5 with a 1.58 ERA in 239 innings. She issued 18 walks and struck out 272 while allowing 165 hits – only five for extra bases. Turner threw three no-hitters, two of them perfect games. Turner helped Prairie Ridge finish 35-7 and win the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division and make a run to a supersectional, which it lost to Fremd.
Amanda Daly
Johnsburg, sr., P
Daly’s Skyhawks did not have a great season, but the senior turned in a 0.96 ERA in 183 innings. Daly (12-13) struck out 315 batters and gave up 118 hits while walking 33. Daly batted .547 with a .651 on-base percentage. She finished with
32 RBIs, 24 stolen bases, 31 runs, 58 hits, 10 doubles, four triples and three home runs. She was named to the FVC All-Conference team and to the ICA All-State third team.
Sarah Boyer
McHenry, sr., P
Boyer finished her senior season on an 11-game winning streak before losing in the Class 4A regional semifinal to Prairie Ridge. Boyer was 19-5 with one save in 172 innings, striking out 275 batters, scattering 115 hits and walking 31 for a 0.57 ERA. Boyer was an FVC All-Conference selection and helped the Warriors win the FVC Valley Division.
Danielle Simons
Marengo, jr., P
Simons tossed two no-hitters and finished 19-2 overall with one save for a 0.97 ERA. Simons shared pitching duties with Mattie McGuire, but still worked 137 innings, walking 30 batters and scattering 81 hits. She struck out 155 batters. Simons was a Big Northern Conference All-Conference selection and helped the Indians win a regional title before losing in a sectional semifinal.
Samantha Clemons
Huntley, sr., P
Clemons entered the IHSA record books this year when she turned in her third consecutive 20-win season. The senior finished 23-11 overall and threw a no-hitter during a regional semifinal. Clemons pitched 219 innings and allowed 174 hits while striking out 168 batters and walking 87 for a 1.98 ERA. Clemons batted .318 with 19 RBIs, a .434 on-base percentage and 34 hits.
Jenna Mychko
Huntley, jr., C
Mychko caught a nearly error-free season for the Raiders, finishing with a .991 fielding percentage for Clemons. She dominated on offense for the second consecutive season, batting .475 from the No. 3 spot with a .650 slugging percentage, 57 hits, three home runs, 12 doubles and 34 RBIs. She was an FVC All-Conference and ICA All-State first-team selection. She has verbally committed to play softball for the University of Illinois.
Nikki Ramsay
McHenry, sr., IF
Ramsay embodied the gritty style of play that led the Warriors to all their success this season. She finished her stint at first base with a .982 fielding percentage and batted .405 with a .604 slugging percentage. Ramsay hit eight doubles, seven triples and 24 RBIs in the cleanup spot. Ramsay was an FVC All-Conference selection and helped McHenry win the FVC Valley Division title.
Kaitlin Hardie
Crystal Lake South, sr., IF
Hardie, who was considered for Player of the Year honors, rebounded from missing most of her junior season with a torn ACL to being the Gators’ starting shortstop and natural leader on and off the field. She batted .415 with a .630 slugging percentage. She scored 38 runs and batted .421 with runners in scoring position while racking up 26 RBIs, 48 hits, 15 doubles and three home runs. She was an FVC All-Conference pick.
Hallisey Kunde
Marengo, sr., IF
Kunde, who was runner-up for Player of the Year honors, batted leadoff for the Indians and gave opposing coaches fits trying to keep the speedster off the basepaths. The shortstop batted .509 with a .552 slugging percentage and .558 on-base percentage. She had 19 RBIs, 34 runs scored and 59 hits and stole 26 bases. She spent an 11-game stretch this season batting .687. She finished her varsity career with a .910 fielding percentage.
Erika Trojan
Prairie Ridge, sr., IF
Trojan was Prairie Ridge’s starting pitcher last season, but made a position change to play a nearly perfect season at shortstop. Trojan committed two fielding errors for a .980 fielding percentage and delivered from the plate in the No. 3 slot, batting .354 with a .453 on-base percentage and a .404 slugging percentage. Trojan was an FVC All-Conference pick selection as Prairie Ridge made a run to a supersectional.
Anna Patras
Prairie Ridge, jr., OF
Patras made an impressive recovery from a shoulder surgery that relegated her to the bench during basketball season and had a stellar year in left field. She batted .510 with a .779 slugging percentage and a .559 on-base percentage in the No. 2 slot. Patras finished with 12 RBIs, 30 runs scored and 53 hits. Patras was an FVC All-Conference selection.
Ashley Manusos
McHenry, sr., OF
Manusos filled an offensive void for the Warriors left by the graduation of Maria Sorrentino, batting in the leadoff spot and finishing with a .319 batting average. Manusos had six doubles, two triples and 10 RBIs while playing an error-free season in center field for McHenry, which won the FVC Valley Division title. Manusos was an FVC All-Conference selection.
Lauren Roudabush
Marengo, so., OF
Roudabush played an error-free season in right field for the Indians and batted .449 during her sophomore campaign, with 53 total hits and 16 RBIs. Her flexibility and consistency gave coach Dwain Nance several options on where to bat her in the lineup. Roudabush moved around, but her output remained steady.
Deana DeBosschere
Huntley, sr., designated player
DeBosschere did it all for the Red Raiders, finishing her season batting .431 with a .472 on-base percentage and a .612 slugging percentage. DeBosschere drove in 31 runs off 50 hits. She had a .911 fielding average at third base and finished with 28 putouts and 64 assists. In the circle, DeBosschere finished 1-2 with a 1.57 ERA.
