Bukiri’s 3 goals pace McHenry

GRAYSLAKE – McHenry started the boys soccer season with a 4-2 non-conference win against Grays-lake Central on Monday.

Jake Bukiri scored three goals, and Josh McNaughton added two assists and scored a goal to lead the Warriors. Taylor Halm and Alex Birkle combined to earn the win in goal for McHenry.

CL Central 1, Jacobs 1: At Crystal Lake, Ian Traecy scored for Jacobs, and Sam Kruse scored Central’s goal in each team’s season opener.

Huntley 8, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Javier Diaz scored three goals and assisted on another in the Red Raiders’ non-conference win. Justin Kruzcek made five saves for the Thunder.

Cary-Grove 2, Johnsburg 1: At Johnsburg, Jon Guay and Evan Baker each scored goals for the Trojans in their non-conference win.

CL South 3, Grayslake North 1: At Grayslake, Charlie Oliver scored a goal and assisted on another in the Gators’ non-conference win. Jon Gutmann and Alex Allmandinger also scored goals for South.

Harvard 1, Wauconda 0: At Wauconda, Alberto Martinez scored on a penalty kick in the 67th minute to give the Hornets a non-conference win.

Chase Blazier made six saves for Harvard.

GIRLS TENNIS

Marian Central 5, Belvidere 0: At Woodstock, Kacie Terranova won at
No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1, to lead the Hurricanes (1-0) to a non-conference win.

BOYS GOLF

Marian Central 154, Dundee-Crown 168: At Crystal Woods in Woodstock, Luke Waggoner shot a 2-under-par 34 to take medalist honors and lead the Hurricanes in their victory. Alex Campe shot a 37 to lead Dundee-Crown.

DeKalb Invitational: At Kishwaukee Country Club, Woodstock tied for fifth with 335 strokes in the 12-team event. Rockford Lutheran (308) took first.

GIRLS GOLF

CL Central 203, Harvard 273: At Turnberry in Lakewood, Sarah Mieth and Ashley Booth took co-medalist honors with 11-over-par 47s to lead the Tigers in their victory against the Hornets. Michaela Binz shot a 58 to lead Harvard.

Prairie Ridge 197, Richmond-Burton 246: At Prairie Isle in Prairie Grove, Allison Holly shot an 8-over 44 to lead the Wolves in their non-conference win.

Burlington Central Triangular: At Sycamore Golf Club, Taylor Ellett shot a 3-over 40 to lead Hampshire to a first-place finish with 188 strokes. Connie Ellett added a 41 for the Whip-Purs.

Bartlett (189) was second, and Burlington Central (202) was third.
