


Czeslawski 1-0 as CLC’s head tennis coachNORTHWEST HERALD CRYSTAL LAKE – The Crystal Lake Central girls tennis team started its season with three strong performances on the singles side in a 4-3 Fox Valley Conference win against Jacobs on Tuesday. Nelle Youel, Jenna Wallace and Maggie Bailey won their singles matches for the Tigers (1-0). The victory was Molly Czeslawski’s first as head coach at Central. It was the first loss of the year for Jacobs (8-1). “It was absolutely awesome,” Czeslawski said. “It was a very special thing to share my first win with such a great group of girls.” Lindsey Gardeck and Alex Buettner won at CL South 6, Grayslake North 1: At Grayslake, South freshman Rachel Siemon won her no. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-0, against Grayslake North’s Nicole Karczewski as the Gators (1-0) earned the win. Huntley 7, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Jordan Anderson’s 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles helped lead the Red Raiders in their sweep of the Thunder in FVC action. Grayslake Central 6, McHenry 1: At Grayslake, Nicole Romanoski earned the lone win for the Warriors at No. 3 singles as they dropped an FVC match the Rams. Woodstock 7, Dundee-Crown 0: At Woodstock, Rachel Bellavia and Molly Besler won at No. 1 doubles to lead the Blue Streaks Johnsburg 4, Cary-Grove 3: At Johnsburg, Heather Matejka won at No. 1 singles to lead the Skyhawks (1-0, 1-0) in their FVC win against the Trojans (0-1, 0-1). Rachel Taddy’s won at No. 2 singles for C-G. Marian Central 5, Hampshire 0: At Hampshire, Kacie Terranova won at GOLF Prairie Ridge 180, Lake Zurich 208: At Countryside Golf Course in Mundelein, Prairie Ridge’s Allison Holly led all golfers with an 8-over-par 43 as the Wolves (2-0) beat the Bears in a non-conference match. Marian Central 181, Dundee-Crown 268: At Bonnie Dundee in Carpentersville, Marian Central junior Annie Fordonski shot the low round for the Hurricanes (2-0) with an 8-over 43. Lauren Wendt’s 63 led D-C in the loss. Hampshire 172, Rosary 196: At the Oak Club of Genoa, Taylor Ellett shot even-par 36 to lead the Whip-Purs Stillman Valley 209, Marengo 244: At Prairie View in Byron, Hayley Keil led the Indians with a 15-over 51 in their Big Northern Conference loss to the Cardinals.
