


CL Central’s Bauman ties 9-hole school recordLAKEWOOD – Crystal Lake Central’s Riley Bauman shot a 4-under-par 32 on Tuesday to tie the school record for nine holes and lead the Tigers to a Fox Valley Conference win against Huntley at Turnberrry. Also leading the way for Central (4-0, 4-0 FVC) was Caelan Murphy and Joe Adams, who each shot 39, and Brent Wadzita, who carded a 42. The Red Raiders (2-6, 0-4) were led by Ryan Craig, Mason Wicks, and Ray Lewandowski, who each shot 43. Brian Ackerman rounded out Huntley’s scoring with a 44. Prairie Ridge 151, Grayslake North 161: At Renwood in Hainesville, Robinson Logue and Johnny Pottala each shot 1-over 37 as the Wolves won the FVC match. Brad Hyland carded a 38, and Stevie Rinn had a 39 for Prairie Ridge (5-0). Marengo 155, North Boone 175: At Beaver Creek in Poplar Grove, Jordan Hernandez fired an even-par 35 to take medalist honors and lead the Indians (8-2, 5-0) in their Big Northern Conference win against the Vikings. Stillman Valley 187, Richmond-Burton 194: At Nippersink in Genoa City, Wis., Cam Owen took medalist honors for the Rockets (0-4, 0-4) with a 5-over 40 as R-B lost in BNC play. Genoa-Kingston 178, Harvard 207: At Oak Club in Genoa, Harvard junior Nate Genz shot the low round for the Hornets with a 44 as Harvard lost in a non-conference match. Marian Central 160, Belvidere North 175: At Crystal Woods in Woodstock, Kevin Sweeney fired a 1-over 37 to lead the Hurricanes past the Blue Thunder in a non-conference dual meet. Luke Waggoner chipped in with a 39 for Marian (6-1). SOCCER Cary-Grove 1, Jacobs 0: At Cary, Jon Guay scored the lone goal in the second half of the FVC Valley Division game to give the Trojans (3-0, 1-0) a win against the Golden Eagles. Huntley 1, McHenry 0 (2 OT): At McHenry, with 7:11 remaining in the second overtime, Ignacio Solorzano headed in the game-winning goal for the Red Raiders (3-3-1, 1-0 FVC Valley) off a Lucas Baker corner kick as the Red Raiders beat the Warriors (4-3-1, 1-1) in division play. Taylor Halm made five saves for McHenry. CL Central 3, Grayslake Central 0: At Crystal Lake, Sam Kruse scored two goals for the Tigers (5-3-1, 2-1 FVC Fox) in a division victory against the Rams. Tom Breen recorded five saves to post the shutout. Prairie Ridge 1, Grayslake North 0: At Grayslake, Alex Walker scored the lone goal to give the Wolves an FVC Fox win. Cole Geissel and A.J. Sturm combined for three saves for Prairie Ridge (3-4, 3-0). Johnsburg 8, Woodstock 1: At Woodstock, Dakota Pruitt scored a goal and had two assists as the Skyhawks (3-2, 3-0) won the FVC Fox match. Ryan McNeil scored the lone goal for the Blue Streaks (2-7, 1-2). Harlem 7, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Justin Kruczek made 13 saves for the Thunder (0-6) in a non-conference loss. Hampshire 3, Stillman Valley 1: At Hampshire, the Whip-Purs (3-1-1) erased a one-goal halftime deficit as Francisco Solis, Robert Murphy and Johny Cabral each scored for the Whips’ in a BNC crossover win. Marengo 2, Byron 1 (OT): At Marengo, Noah Gottfred scored the game-winning goal in overtime for the Indians (2-4) in a BNC crossover win. Marian Central 6, St. Edward 1: At Woodstock, Kyle Gust scored two goals, and Trevor Diedrich scored a goal and added two assists in a Suburban Christian Conference Blue Division victory for the Hurricanes (10-0, 1-0 SCC Blue). CROSS COUNTRY Harvard Invite: At Harvard, Hampshire freshman Evan Woodbury took third place (17:56) and was the top finisher for the Whip-Purs, who finished second with 39 points. Rockford Lutheran won the invite with 24 points, and Harvard took third with 83 points and was led by fourth-place finisher Alex Kick (18:28). Grayslake Central Meet: At Nippersink Forest Preserve in Round Lake, Joe Mollica of Huntley won the meet with a time of 17:37 and led Huntley (75 points) to a third-place finish. Crystal Lake South (40) won the meet by placing all of its runners in the top 10 and was led by Brian Keogh’s sixth-place finish and time of 18:17. Johnsburg (121) placed fifth and was led by Jake Szramek’s time of 18:23 in 13th place. J.D. Fuller finished fourth with a time of 17:43 and led Woodstock (141) to a sixth-place finish. McHenry Jamboree: At Township Park in McHenry, Prairie Ridge took the top spot with 53 points in an invite that hosted seven different Fox Valley Conference teams. Matt Neubauer led the Wolves, finishing sixth overall (17:03), and Prairie Ridge’s second and third runners, Marc DiVerde and Mitch Wilkins, were close behind finishing in eighth and ninth place respectively (17:06, 17:11). D-C was second overall with 69 points as Anthony Manfrin took second place (16:28). Phil Farleigh won the race in 16:27 as Cary-Grove finished in third place.
