Pettit leads Marian to golf triangular win

BULL VALLEY – Stephanie Pettit’s 7-over-par 42 was the low round for the Marian Central girls golf team, which shot a 187 to beat McHenry (195) and Larkin (283) in a non-conference triangular Thursday at Boone Creek.

The Hurricanes (5-1) also got solid rounds from junior Annie Fordonski and freshmen Samantha Leicht, who both shot 48, and Caitlin McKenna rounded out the group with a 49.

McHenry freshmen Kayla Ross (44) and Amber Pringle (47) led the Warriors (4-2) to the second-place finish. Larkin’s Kristin Chramowicz took medalist honors with a 40.

CL Central 189, Richmond-Burton 283: At Turnberry in Lakewood, Ashley Booth took medalist honors with an 8-over 44 to lead the Tigers (5-1) to a non-conference win.

Stillman Valley 216, Harvard 229: At Prairie View in Byron, Sam Hereley shot a 53 as the Hornets lost in BNC play. Michaela Binz added a 54 for Harvard (0-4).

Marengo 2, Genoa-Kingston 1: At Marengo, Allison Rogutich had six aces, seven blocks and four kills as the Indians won the Big Northern Conference crossover 25-17, 23-25, 25-15.

Morgan Bartlett had seven kills and 25 digs for Marengo
(1-3).

Harvard 2, Byron 0: At Harvard, Ashleigh Fisher had 12 kills as the Hornets won the BNC crossover, 25-15, 25-18. Marcy Nystrom had 11 digs for Harvard (2-2).

Hampshire 2, Oregon 0: At Hampshire, Amy Wehrs had nine kills and Tia Incapreo added 13 digs from the libero position as the Whip-Purs (5-2) cruised to a BNC crossover win.

Rockford Lutheran 2, Richmond-Burton 1: Chloe Fiedler had 13 kills for the Rockets (4-4) in non-conference play.

Grayslake Central 2, Woodstock North 0: At Grayslake, Kareese Goetz had 14 digs for the Thunder (1-7, 0-2) in their Fox Valley Conference Fox Division loss to the Rams (4-5,1-1).

Woodstock 2, Grayslake North 0: At Woodstock, Katie Ruben’s eight kills and seven blocks led the Blue Streaks (3-5, 1-1) to their first FVC Fox win, 25-20, 25-13, against the Knights (2-7, 1-1).

Alden-Hebron 2, Christian Liberty 1: At Arlington Heights, Madeline Walters had eight blocks in a Northeastern Athletic Conference win for the Giants (1-5, 1-0).

Cary-Grove 5, Grayslake Central 2: At Grayslake, C-G’s Elizabeth Powers and Elizabeth Lehnertz won at No. 1 doubles, coming back from a one-set deficit, 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, as the Trojans (4-4, 2-3) won in FVC Valley play.

CL South 7, Woodstock 0: At Crystal Lake, Marisa Thome won at No. 1 singles to lead the Gators (7-0, 6-0) to an FVC win against the Blue Streaks (2-2, 2-2).

Prairie Ridge 7, Huntley 0: At Crystal Lake, Hannah Gummerson won at No. 1 singles as the Wolves (5-5, 5-0) won the FVC match against the Red Raiders (2-4, 1-4).

Jacobs 7, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Lindsey Gardeck won at No. 1 singles as the Golden Eagles (13-1, 4-1 FVC) swept the Thunder (0-7, 0-5) in FVC play.

Hampshire 4, Marengo 1: At Marengo, Kate Hoglund and Stacy Krach won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, as the Whip-Purs (2-3, 1-0) won the BNC match.
