


Jacobs’ Cahill ties leader at 1 underROCKFORD – Jacobs’ Scott Cahill shot a 1-under-par 71 on Saturday to tie for first place at the Rockford East Brad Frowler Invitational at Aldeen. Cahill’s 71 helped lead the Golden Eagles to a fourth-place finish with 312 strokes. Josh Kopka, 77, Joe Swanson, 81, and Buzz Aman, 83, rounded out Jacobs’ scoring. Joe Kallenbach and Riley Bauman each shot a 79 to lead Crystal Lake Central (329) to a ninth-place finish. New Trier (297) won the 22-team event. Zion-Benton Invitational: At Shepheard’s Crook in Zion, Willy Stastny fired a 3-over 75 to place fourth and lead McHenry (337) to an 11th-place finish. Jarrett Wollenberg shot an 88 to lead Dundee-Crown (366) to 19th-place finish in the 20-team event. Cary-Grove (316) placed fourth. SOCCER Grayslake Central 8, Woodstock North 2: At Grayslake, the Rams (2-8 overall, 1-3 Fox Valley Conference Fox Division) defeated the Thunder (0-7, 0-4) in an FVC Fox contest. CL South 5, Belvidere 1: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (9-0) remained undefeated on the season as Charlie Oliver and Jono Gutmann each scored two goals in the contest to lead South in its non-conference win. Buffalo Grove 4, Prairie Ridge 2: At Buffalo Grove, Alex Polizzi and Alex Walker each scored goals for the Wolves (4-5-1) in their non-conference loss to the Bison. Evanston 2, McHenry 1: At Evanston, the Warriors (4-5-1) got a second-half goal by Josh McNaughton in their loss to the Wildkits. Huntley 1, Burlington Central 1: At Burlington, Kyle Lewandowski scored, and Kevin Montelongo recorded five saves for the Red Raiders (3-4-2) in their non-conference tie with Burlington. Boylan 5, Cary-Grove 0: At Rockford, Will Higgins made three saves, and Zach Cheatle made a save for the Trojans (4-1) in their non-conference loss. CROSS COUNTRY Peoria Woodruff Invitational: At Detweiler Park, Anthony Manfrin ran a time of 14:59 to place third in the 38-team event and lead Dundee-Crown (306) to a 10th-place finish. Nick Ellingson led Jacobs (487, 18th place) with a time of 15:57 for a 43rd-place finish. Neuqua Valley won the event with 56 points.
