Schoch’s 41 leads CL Central past PR

PRAIRIE GROVE – The Crystal Lake Central girls golf team remained undefeated in Fox Valley Conference play with a
182-183 win against Prairie Ridge on Monday at Prairie Isle.

The Tigers (5-1 overall, 4-0 FVC) were led by Michelle Schoch’s 5-over-par 41, which earned her medalist honors by one stroke over Prairie Ridge’s Allison Holly (42). Also contributing to Central’s win were Ann Bandolik with a 46, Sarah Meith (47) and Ashley Booth (48).

(7-2, 3-1) was rounded out by Katelyn Horgan (45), Danielle Perkins (46) and Kelly Olson (50).

McHenry 220, Jacobs 235: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Kaylee Ross took medalist honors for the Warriors with a 12-over-par 48 in an FVC win against the Golden Eagles (4-2, 2-2). Maria Tamburrino shot the low round for Jacobs with a 50.

Hampshire 180, West Aurora 212: At Orchard Valley in West Aurora, Taylor Ellett fired a 1-under-par 35 as the Hampshire junior birdied four of the last five holes in a non-conference win for the Whip-Purs (10-0).

Connie Ellett shot a 36 for Hampshire.

VOLLEYBALL

Harvard 2, Genoa-Kingston 0: At Genoa, the Hornets (6-3) were led by Ashleigh Fisher’s 12 kills and Katarina Rotta’s 18 assists in their 25-16, 25-20 Big Northern Conference crossover win.

Hampshire 2, Stillman Valley 1: At Stillman Valley, Amy Wehrs had 12 kills, and Kara Wehrs added 11 for the Whip-Purs (10-2) in their 25-16, 20-25, 25-19 BNC crossover win.

Byron 2, Richmond-Burton 0: At Byron, Chloe Fiedler had eight kills and eight digs for the Rockets (9-6) in their 25-16, 25-22 BNC crossover loss.

Rockford Lutheran 2, Marengo 0: At Rockford, the Indians (2-8) dropped a 25-14, 25-22, BNC crossover match.

Jacobs 2, Antioch 1: At Antioch, Alyssa Ehrhardt had 12 kills and six digs and led the Golden Eagles (3-6) in their 12-25, 25-23, 25-22, non-conference win.

TENNIS

McHenry 6, Grayslake North 1: At McHenry, Lauren Vannoy (No. 2 singles) and Nicole Romanoski (No. 3 singles) each won their matches to lead the Warriors
(7-5, 3-3) in their FVC win.

Johnsburg 7, Huntley 0: At Huntley, Alexa and Nicole Stroner won at No. 1 doubles, and Sarah Coughlin won at No. 2 singles to lead the Skyhawks (7-0, 5-0) in their FVC sweep of the Red Raiders (3-5, 1-5).

Lake Zurich 7, Cary-Grove 0: At Cary, the Trojans’ No. 1 doubles team of Elizabeth Powers and Elizabeth Lehnertz lost a three-set match to Lindsay Thompson and Val Wilson as the Trojans lost in non-conference play.

Woodstock 6, Marengo 1: At Woodstock, Asako Yagasaki and Adrienne Long won their singles matches for the Blue Streaks in a non-conference win. Sage Lorman and Kristen Martin got the lone win, 7-6, 6-0, at No. 4 doubles for the Indians (5-8).

Marian Central 4, Boylan 1: At Woodstock, Grace Miller won her No. 2 singles match, 6-4, 7-5, as the Hurricanes won in non-conference play.
