Laughlin, Trojans drop talented PR

CARY – Cary-Grove’s boys golf team put together an impressive team performance Monday, shooting a collective 1-under-par 147 at Cary Country Club for an 11-stroke Fox Valley Conference win against Prairie Ridge.

“They knew they had to play well because of how talented a team PR has,” C-G coach Kelly Muzzy said, “Our guys rose to the challenge, and it was impressive to see all four of them put up low scores.”

Ryan Laughlin led the Trojans (6-0 overall, 6-0 FVC) with a 1-under 36.

“Ryan has been our quiet leader all season, and he has a great work ethic,” Muzzy said.

Matt Efflandt, Scott Brady and Mike Olszewski all shot even-par 37 as the Trojans remained undefeated and handed the Wolves (5-1, 5-1) their first loss of the season. Casey Schneider shot the low round for Prairie Ridge with a 37.

Marian Central 165, Woodstock 172: At Woodstock Country Club, Terry Mc-
Kenna led the Hurricanes (8-1) with a 4-over-par 39 in a non-conference win.

Woodstock’s Jamie Hagen was the medalist with a 38.

Genoa Kingston 170, Richmond-Burton 187: At the Oak Club in Genoa, Eric Buckley led the Rockets
(1-6, 1-6) with a 6-over-par 42 in their Big Northern Conference loss.

SOCCER

Woodstock 4, Wauconda 2: At Wauconda, Christian Havey scored two goals as the Blue Streak’s (4-7) scored four goals in the second-half to defeat the Bulldogs in non-conference action.
