Every Wolves golfer shot a 44 or below, and the tournament leader was Allison Holly at 3-over-par 39. The team shot a total of 169 on the first day of the two-day tournament. Crystal Lake Central (176) was seven shots back in second place, led by Ashley Booth’s 41. Annie Fordonski’s 43 led Marian Central, which was in third (181). Huntley (194) and Richmond-Burton (196) rounded out the top five teams in the tournament. The top five individuals were Holly, Jacobs’ Maria Tamburrino (40), Booth, Huntley’s Katlyn Anderberg (42), and Katelyn Horgan (42) of Prairie Ridge. The tournament concludes today at Boone Creek. VOLLEYBALL McHenry 2, Dundee-Crown 0: At McHenry, Danielle Tonyan and Sam Magnusen each had five kills as the Warriors won their Fox Valley Conference Valley Division opener, 25-13, 25-18. Storm Melnick had seven digs for McHenry (5-2, 1-0). Alexis Holm had four kills for Dundee-Crown (4-6, 0-1). Cary-Grove 2, Huntley 0: At Huntley, Abbey Heredia led the Trojans (12-1, 1-0) with 21 assists and nine digs in their 25-18, 25-22, FVC Valley win against Huntley (7-4, 0-1). CL South 2, Jacobs 0: At Crystal Lake, the Golden Eagles (3-7, 0-1) were led by Taylor Lesner’s five kills in their 25-18, 25-15, FVC Valley loss to the Gators (9-0, 1-0). CL Central 2, Grayslake North 0: At Crystal Lake, The Tigers (12-3, 1-1) were led Tracy Friel’s 16 assists as they beat the Knights (5-10, 1-2) in FVC Fox action, 25-14, 25-9. Johnsburg 2, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Alyx Vogel had seven digs, and Stephaine Reis had four kills to lead the Thunder (1-14, 0-3) in their 25-13, 25-14, FVC Fox loss to Johnsburg (6-4, 2-0). Woodstock 2, Grayslake Central 0: At Grayslake, Katie Ruben and Allison Wynn had five kills each for the Blue Streaks (6-8, 2-1), who defeated the Rams, 25-22, 25-20, in FVC Fox action. TENNIS CL South 7, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, Abbey Kolarczyk and Stephanie Brunetti won at No. 1 doubles as the Gators (8-0, 7-0) defeated the Thunder (0-8, 0-6) in FVC action. Grayslake Central 5, Huntley 2: At Huntley, Jordan Anderson (No. 1 singles) and Bri Roeser (No. 3 singles) won their matches for Huntley (3-6, 1-6) in an FVC loss. Cary-Grove 6, Grayslake North 1: At Cary, Rachel Taddy’s 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 singles helped the Trojans (5-5, 3-3) win the FVC dual meet against the Knights (0-6). McHenry 4, Woodstock 3: At McHenry, Kelsey Earhart and Jacalyn Scott rallied from a 5-1 second-set deficit to defeat Nathalie Danielson and Rachel Sovino of Woodstock, 6-2, 7-5, to help McHenry (8-5, 4-3) pull out an FVC victory. Johnsburg 5, Jacobs 2: At Algonquin, Alexa and Nicole Stroner won at No. 1 doubles to lead the Skyhawks (8-0, 6-0) in their FVC win against Jacobs (13-2, 3-2). Prairie Ridge 7, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, the Wolves (6-6, 6-0) swept the Chargers in FVC action to remain undefeated in the conference. CROSS COUNTRY Burlington Central Quad: At Burnridge Forest Preserve in Burlington, Huntley’s Sara Scarbro finished in third place with a time of 16:09 to help the Red Raiders (35 points) capture a first-place finish over Richmond-Burton, Burlington Central and Genoa-Kingston. Richmond-Burton finished the meet in third place with 54 points. SWIMMING St. Charles East 97, Jacobs 65. At St. Charles, Jacobs’ Molly Messner won the 100-yard backstroke (1:15.52) and Lindsey Pankau won the 100-yard breaststroke (1:15.67), but it wasn’t enough to capture a win for the Golden Eagles.
