Harvard cards 1st victory

HARVARD – The Harvard boys golf team earned its first win of the season Wednesday with a 198-224, non-conference win against Round Lake at Plum Tree National.

The Hornets (1-7) were led by Nate Genz’s 8-over-par 44 on the back nine. Other leading golfers for Harvard were Ryan Knop with a 46, Chris Hackman with a 48, and J.C. Gregg with a 60.

Richmond-Burton 181, North Boone 192: At Nippersink Golf Course in Genoa City, Wis., Cam Owen shot a 7-over 42 for R-B in a Big Northern Conference win for the Rockets (2-6, 2-6 BNC) against the Vikings.

Hampshire 179, Stillman Valley 198: At The Oak Club in Genoa, Grant Yoder, Jeff Cohn and Jeremy Yoder shot 8-over 44 to take medalist honors for the Whip-Purs in a BNC win.

Marengo 175, Wauconda 191: At Countryside in Mundelein, Nico Haeflinger shot a 2-over 39 to lead the Indians (10-2) in their non-conference victory against the Bulldogs.

Woodstock 167, Huntley 183: At Plum Tree National in Harvard, Josh and Tyler Cundiff each shot 5-over 41 for Woodstock in a Fox Valley Conference win for the Blue Streaks (1-6, 1-5) against the Red Raiders. Ryan Craig shot a 43 to lead Huntley.

Cary-Grove 148, Grayslake Central 163: At Stonewall Orchard in Grayslake, Matt Efflandt and Scott Brady each shot even-par 36 to take co-medalist honors in an FVC win for the Trojans (7-0, 7-0) against the Rams.

CL South 163, Johnsburg 176: At RedTail in Lakewood, Nick Robles shot a 2-over 38 for the Gators (5-1, 5-1) in their FVC win against the Skyhawks (1-6, 1-6). Jake Arden and Tyler Chamber both shot 42 to lead Johnsburg.

BOYS SOCCER

Bartlett Tournament: Ian Traecy scored the lone goal for Jacobs in a 1-1 draw against Carmel. A.J. Pfatschbacher made seven saves for the Golden Eagles (3-4-2), who are 0-1-1 in the tournament.

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL

Hampshire 2, North Boone 0: At Hampshire, Kara Wehrs had 21 assists in a 25-11, 25-6 Big Northern Conference East Division win for the Whip-Purs (11-2, 1-0) against the Vikings.

Marian Central 2, Chicago Christian 0: At Palos Heights, the Hurricanes were led by Abby Gilleland’s 19 assists and Dena Ott’s 15 digs in a Suburban Christian Conference Blue Division win for Marian (7-2, 2-0) against the Knights.

GIRLS TENNIS

Marengo 4, Elgin Academy 3: At Elgin, Ally and Amber Fillmore their match at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-2, and led the Indians (6-8) in their non-conference win against the Hilltoppers.

GIRLS GOLF

Hampshire 195, Stillman Valley 224: At Oak Club of Genoa, Taylor Ellett shot a 2-over 38 and the led the Whip-Purs (11-0, 6-0) in their BNC win against the Cardinals.
