


Gators dominate at Guilford tennis meetROCKFORD – The Crystal Lake South girls tennis team used its depth to take home the Guilford Invitational championship Saturday. The Gators won the championship with 39 points, beating second-place Woodstock (25) by 14 points. All of the Gators’ players reached championship matches, with Marisa Thome (No. 1 singles), Abbey Kolarczyk and Stephanie Brunetti (No. 1 doubles), Rachel Boorom and Rachel Siemon (No. 2 doubles), and Krystal Reuter and Kamile Udrenaite (No. 3 doubles) winning championships in their respective divisions. Prospect Tournament: At Prospect, Nelle Youel and Jenna Wallace’s first-place finishes led Crystal Lake Central (32 points) to a third-place finish. Buffalo Grove (45) won the tournament. Huntley Tournament: Huntley beat Marengo, 4-1, and Round Lake, 5-0, but lost to Wauconda, 4-1, to finish the tournament at 2-1. Sam Chapman and Ashley Pietrusiak won their three matches at No. 1 doubles to lead Huntley (5-8). Hononegah Tournament: At Rockton, Woodstock North (0-10) lost its two matches, to Boylan, 5-0, and Hononegah, 5-0. VOLLEYBALL Wheaton North Tournament: Prairie Ridge won the Bronze Bracket by winning the championship with a 25-19, 23-25, 25-21 win against Plainfield North. The Wolves (11-5) finished the two-day tournament with a 3-2 record. Prairie Ridge’s Taylor Brauneis had 64 kills, 41 digs, and 42 assists on the weekend. Wauconda Tournament: Marengo (5-13) finished with a 3-2 record and third-place finish in the tournament, with wins against Round Lake, Grayslake Central, and North Chicago. Wauconda won the tournament. Mother McCauley Nike Preview: At Chicago, Jacobs (4-12) finished with a 1-4 record and in 11th place in the 12-team tournament. Nazareth won the title. CROSS COUNTRY Warren Invitational: At O’Plaine Campus in Gurnee, Marianne Collard ran a time of 17:40 and won the meet to lead Crystal Lake South (131) to a third-place finish. Kristina Aubert finished in third with a time of 18:04 for the Gators. Cary-Grove (157) finished fourth and was led by Megan Cummings (19:04), who finished 17th.
