


Hampshire volleyball still perfect in BNC EastMARENGO – With matches against Burlington Central and Cary-Grove looming this week, Hampshire’s girls volleyball team easily could have looked past Marengo on Monday. But the Whip-Purs beat the Indians, 25-17, 25-11, to stay undefeated in the Big Northern Conference East Division, setting up a showdown Wednesday at home against Burlington, which also is perfect in BNC East play. “We looked good from the beginning and were really focused,” Hampshire coach Karen Whitehouse said. “Marengo is a tough team, especially on their home floor.” Leading the way for the Whips (14-2 overall, 4-0 BNC East) was Amy Wehrs with 17 kills and Kara Wehrs with 13 assists. Lauren Roudabush led the Indians (7-16, 0-4) with eight digs and an ace. The Whips host C-G, the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division leader, on Thursday. Harvard 2, North Boone 0: At Poplar Grove, Marcy Nystrom led Harvard (13-5, 2-2) with 11 digs in its 25-14, 25-7 BNC East win. Marian Central 2, Montini 0: At Woodstock, Abby Gilleland had 15 assists and led Marian (9-3) in its 25-6, 25-15 Suburban Christian Conference crossover victory. GIRLS TENNIS Marengo 4, Belvidere 1: At Marengo, Brittany Berrier and Sarah Olson won at No. 1 doubles, and Kristen Smith won at No. 2 singles for the Indians (7-11) in their non-conference victory. Marian Central 4, Grant 1: At Fox Lake, Kacie Terranova won at No. 1 singles, and Pierce Bailey won at No. 2 singles for Marian in its non-conference victory. GIRLS GOLF Burlington Central 195, Harvard 232: At Sycamore Golf Club, Sam Hereley shot a 50 in the Hornets’ BNC loss. Marian Central 199, Richmond-Burton 224: At Nippersink in Genoa City, Wis., R-B’s Lauren Smith earned medalist honors with an 8-over-par 45, but the Rockets lost to the Hurricanes (8-1) in non-conference play. Annie Fordonski shot a 47 to lead Marian. St. Edward 188, Huntley 227: At Villa Oliva in Bart-lett, Kaetlyn Anderberg shot a 15-over 51 to lead the Red Raiders (5-4) in their non-conference loss. Marengo 231, Johnsburg 256: At Marengo Ridge, Hayley Keil shot a 14-over 50 to earn medalist honors and lead the Indians in their non-conference win. BOYS SOCCER Cary-Grove 6, St. Edward 0: At Elgin, the Trojans (10-1-0) got two goals from Matt Latawiec and two assists from Drew Conner in their non-conference win. Richmond-Burton 2, Marengo 1 (SO): At Richmond, the Rockets’ only goal came from Zach Cemail and they outscored the Indians, 3-2, in the shootout to earn the BNC East win. BOYS GOLF Burlington Central 164, Harvard 205: At Sycamore Golf Club, Chris Hackman shot a 10-over-par 45 for the Hornets in their BNC loss. Wauconda 172, Richmond-Burton 187: At Countryside in Mundelein, Cam Owen shot a 4-over 40 to lead the Rockets (4-9) in their non-conference loss.
