Beatties run 1-2 at Mega Meet

WOODSTOCK – Elise and Kayla Beattie finished first and second for Woodstock’s girls cross country team Tuesday in the four-team Woodstock Mega Meet at Emricson Park.

The Beattie sisters finished less than a half-second apart (18:59.73, 18:59.94) as they propelled the Blues Streaks to second place with 37 points, four points behind Belvidere North.

Marian Central took third with 78 points and was led by Allie Manning, who finished fourth (20:06). Mary Kelly of Woodstock North finished 13th (21:31) as the Thunder took fourth.

Matt Walter Invitational: At Walcamp in Kingston, Haley Loprieno ran a time of 18:27 to take second and lead Huntley (41 points) to a first-place finish. Katie Adams of Marengo won the meet in 18:14. Marengo does not have enough runners to qualify for a team score.

Richmond-Burton (67) came in third and was led by Skylar Bayer’s fourth-place time of 18:47. Cassie Kruse ran a time of 20:35 to finish 19th and lead Hampshire (106) to fifth. Harvard (165) was led by Brittany Carr (21:08), who took 26th, and the Hornets finished sixth.

VOLLEYBALL

CL South 2, McHenry 0: At McHenry, Caitlin Schumacher led the Gators (12-1, 4-1) with 11 digs, and Chelsea Sirovatka added 15 assists in their 25-17, 25-23 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win against McHenry (7-5, 2-3). Katie Niehoff led the Warriors with 13 assists and 11 digs.

Cary-Grove 2, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, the Trojans (16-1, 5-0) were led by Kayla Klinger’s six digs and five kills in their 25-9, 25-14 win against the Chargers (7-12, 0-5). Lindsay Mosher had seven assists for D-C.

Prairie Ridge 2, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, the Wolves (14-5, 6-0) were led by Taylor Humm’s 10 digs and seven kills as they remained unbeaten in FVC Fox play with a 25-4, 25-10 win against the Thunder (1-17, 0-6).

Burlington Central 2, Richmond-Burton 0: At Burlington, Chloe Fiedler and Tracy Holian each had four kills for R-B in a Big Northern Conference East Division loss.

North Boone 2, Marengo 1: At Marengo, Allison Rogutich led Marengo (7-18, 0-5) with three kills, and Morgan Bartlett had eight assists in the Indians’
22-25, 30-28, 25-22 loss against North Boone in BNC East play.

Huntley 2, Jacobs 0: At Huntley, the Red Raiders (15-5, 3-2) beat the Golden Eagles, 25-19, 25-22, in FVC Valley play. Kadie Lowery led Huntley with eight kills. Amanda Carroll had 21 assists for the Red Raiders.

(5-14, 1-4) with eight kills.

TENNIS

CL South 7, McHenry 0: at McHenry, Marisa Thome, Rachel Siemon and Rachel Boorom won their singles matches for the Gators (11-0, 10-0) in an FVC win against the Warriors (9-8, 5-6).

Cary-Grove 6, Dundee-Crown 1: At Carpentersville, Beth Hughes won at No. 1 singles, and Rachel Taddy won at No. 2 singles to lead the Trojans (6-5, 5-4) in their FVC win against D-C (0-10, 0-10).

CL Central 6, Woodstock 1: At Woodstock, Nelle Youel and Jenna Wallace won their singles matches in straight sets as the Tigers (9-5, 8-2) rolled in FVC play. Adrienne Long and Molly Besler won at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 6-2, for the Blue Streaks (4-8, 3-7).

Prairie Ridge 7, Jacobs 0: At Crystal Lake, Allison Murphy and Carolyn Huerth won their No. 1 doubles match in straight sets as the Wolves won in FVC play.

Johnsburg 6, Grayslake Central 1: At Grayslake, Heather Matejka (No. 1 singles), Sara Coughlin (No. 2 singles) and Lauren DeStephano (No. 3 singles) won their singles matches, and the Skyhawks (11-2, 8-2) defeated the Rams in FVC action.

Grayslake North 7, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, the Knights swept the Thunder (0-12, 0-10) in FVC play.

Hampshire 4, Marengo 1: At Marengo, Kate Lougland won at No. 1 singles to lead the Whip-Purs in their BNC win. Ally and Amber Fillmore won for Marengo (7-12, 0-3) at No. 3 doubles.

SWIMMING

Woodstock Triangular: Byron won with 149 points, Woodstock (124) took second, and Harlem (124) was third. Becca Ortmann won the 200-yard freestyle, Haley Brasile won the 500 freestyle, and Crystal Kawi took second in the 100 butterfly for Woodstock.

GOLF

Huntley 203, Johnsburg 259: At Pinecrest in Huntley, Katlyn Anderberg shot a 4-over-par 40 to take medalist honor for the Red Raiders (6-4, 3-3) in an FVC win.

Simone Seyler had the low round for Johnsburg with a 59.
