


Four Gators share medalist honorsHARVARD – Crystal Lake South’s boys golf team achieved a rare feat in its 156-170 Fox Valley Conference win against Woodstock on Tuesday at Plum Tree National. The Gators (8-3 overall, 8-3 FVC) had four golfers – Nick Robles, Scott Stalo, Mike Digrazia and Jordan Dotson – share medalist honors with scores of 3-over-par 39. “Any time I can get four scores in the 30s, I will take it,” South coach Curt Wadlington said. “Today we really just focused on managing the course and trying to get the win to finish conference play.” The Gators head into Thursday’s FVC Tournament at Oak Grove in Harvard in third place behind Cary-Grove and Jacobs. Woodstock (1-10, 1-10) was led by Jamie Hagen’s 40. Grayslake Central 165, McHenry 165: At McHenry Country Club in McHenry, Willy Stastny took medalist honors with a 2-over 38 for the Warriors (7-4), who lost by a fifth-score tiebreak to the Rams Jacobs 158, Grayslake North 165: At Randall Oaks in West Dundee, Scott Cahill shot a 2-under 35 and led Jacobs (9-2, 9-2) to an FVC win. Suburban Christian Conference Tournament: At Blackberry Oaks in Bristol, Marian Central finished fourth in the 11-team tournament with 320 strokes behind Luke Waggoner’s 6-over 78. Also contributing to the Hurricanes’ total were Gordie Mitchard (79), Brett Mitchell (79) and Evan Mass (84). Waggoner, Mitchard and Mitchell earned all-conference honors. Wheaton Academy (306) took first place behind medalist Blake Biddle’s 74. Marmion (311) and St. Francis (315) rounded out the top three teams. Hampshire Quad: At Oak Club of Genoa, Jeremy and Grant Yoder each shot 7-over 43 and led the Whip-Purs (12-2, 9-2) to first place in the meet, which included a Big Northern Conference win against North Boone. Huntley shot a team total of 212 to place third. North Boone (197) took second, and Hinckley-Big Rock (215) was fourth. Byron 169, Harvard 194: At Byron, Ryan Knop led Harvard with a 7-over 43 in its BNC loss. SOCCER Marian Central 6, Grant 0: At Woodstock, Kyle Gust scored a hat trick for the Hurricanes (14-2) in a non-conference win. Andrew Hull made eight saves for Marian. Grayslake Central 7, Woodstock North 1: At Woodstock, Alex Niese scored the only goal for the Thunder (0-13, 0-7) in their FVC Fox Division loss to the Rams (3-10, 2-5). CL South 4, Jacobs 1: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (13-3-2) beat the Golden Eagles (4-7-2) in FVC Valley play with two goals by Charlie Oliver and a goal apiece by Carey Bienert and Jacob Stock. Grayslake North 3, Woodstock 2: At Grayslake, Christian Harvey scored twice for the Blue Streaks (6-10, 3-5) in an FVC Fox loss. Huntley 2, Jefferson 0: At Huntley, Javier Diaz scored a goal and assisted on the other for Huntley (5-7-2) in a non-conference win. CROSS COUNTRY Woodstock Mega Meet: Belvidere North took first place with a perfect team score of 15 points, taking the top five spots. Woodstock’s J.D. Fuller finished sixth (16:38) as his team finished second with 52 points. Marian Central (third, 95 points) was led by Andrew Wozniak in ninth (16:52), and Woodstock North finished fourth with 214 points. Matt Walter Invitational: At Walcamp in Kingston, Ian Sanchez (15:43) and Matt Lytle (15:49) finished first and second and led Richmond-Burton to the team title with 47 points. Huntley (69) placed third and was led by Joe Mollica’s seventh-place time of 16:34. Tanner Holman ran a time of 17:04 to take 12th and lead Hampshire (132) to fifth.
