C-G volleyball wins 20th

CARY – Cary-Grove’s girls volleyball team collected its 20th victory of the season Thursday with a 25-17, 25-21 non-conference win against Lake Zurich.

The Bears had won eight of their previous nine matches before Thursday’s loss to C-G.

For the Trojans, Kelly Lamberti had 11 kills, and Sam Mainzer added 15 digs.

C-G resumes Fox Valley Conference Valley Division play Tuesday against Jacobs.

Grayslake Central 2, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, the Thunder (3-22, 0-9) lost to the Rams (7-19, 3-6) in FVC Fox Division play. Sarah Diamond had 10 assists and four digs for North.

Woodstock 2, Grayslake North 0: At Grayslake, the Blue Streaks (14-13, 6-4) defeated the Knights, 25-22, 25-22, in FVC Fox play. For Woodstock, Raquel Ness had 10 digs, and Lauren Trahan added nine assists.

Harvard 2, Marengo 0: At Marengo, Katarina Rotta had 22 assists, and Marcy Nystrom added 16 digs to lead the Hornets (15-6, 4-3) to a 25-23, 25-13 Big Northern Conference East Division win against the Indians.

Morgan Bartlett had 20 digs for Marengo (5-17, 0-7).

SWIMMING

McHenry 101, Woodstock 69: At Woodstock, Courtney Mattys won two events, including the 100-yard breaststroke (1:12) and the 200 individual medley (2:19) to lead the Warriors to a win against Woodstock.

Becca Ortmann swam a time of 2:05 to win the 200-yard freestyle and a time of 56.99 seconds to win the 100 freestyle for Woodstock.
