


Marian cruises to soccer victoryAURORA– Marian Central’s boys soccer team could have run up the score against division rival Aurora Central Catholic on Thursday, but the Hurricanes chose to play possession soccer instead. “We wanted to mix it up a little bit,” Marian coach Mike Golda said after the Hurricanes’ 3-1 Suburban Christian Conference win. “We had a couple of guys missing, but we still knew we could do a lot of good things offensively. “It was senior night for Aurora, and we wanted to keep up the intensity, but, at the same time, be respectful.” Midfielder Tyler Lundquist scored twice, and Ben Platta also scored for the Hurricanes (16-4, 4-2). Andrew Hull made three saves and recorded his 10th shutout of the season. “This was a good tune-up for our big game against Chicago Christian on Saturday,” Golda said. “We will need to bring the same intensity and solid-play we exhibited today.” Harvard 3, Richmond-Burton 0: At Richmond, the Hornets (15-3-2, 8-1-1) shut out the Rockets (5-11, 2-6) in Big Northern Conference East Division play behind two goals from Rafael Juarez. Chase Blazier made six saves for Harvard. CL Central 7, Woodstock North 0: At Crystal Lake, the Tigers (8-2, 12-7-1) stayed a half-game behind Fox Valley Conference Fox Division leader Prairie Ridge with a victory against the Thunder (0-18, 0-11).
