Athlete of the week

CHARLIE OLIVER
CL South, sophomore

Oliver, a forward, scored both goals in the Gators’ thrilling 2-1 victory against Cary-Grove on Thursday, including the game-winner to help South move into a first-place tie with the Trojans atop the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division standings.

Oliver’s game-winning goal against McHenry on Tuesday helped South seal its first FVC Valley Division title in 12 seasons. Dundee-Crown upset C-G on Tuesday, 1-0, to knock the Trojans out of the running to share the conference crown.

Resignation: Jacobs athletic director Tom Ross confirmed Monday that Jim Dzialo has resigned as the Golden Eagles’ head coach. Junior varsity coach A.J. Cappello has taken over the varsity coaching responsibilities for the remainder of the year.
