The Trojans (32-4) won their first match of the postseason Thursday, beating fourth-seeded Dundee-Crown in convincing fashion, 25-9, 25-9, in the regional semifinals. C-G had a balanced offensive attack, as sophomore Ashley Rosch had seven kills, and junior Kelly Lamberti added six. “Kelly is the player we rely on heavily for kills, and Ashley stepping up gives us so many options offensively,” Langanis said. Alyssa Sarrazine had two kills for the Chargers (9-25). C-G will play second-seeded Barrington at 1 p.m. Saturday for the regional championship. “Barrington is a big team, and it is going to be tough to play against them on their home court,” Langanis said. Barrington beat Jacobs, 25-17, 17-25, 25-17, to advance. Quinn Luehring had 14 digs and 14 assists for Jacobs (12-23) in its season-ending loss. Class 3A Belvidere North Regional: Mary Kate Manning led top-seeded Marian Central (26-10) with 11 kills, and the Hurricanes beat No. 4 Belvidere North, 25-16, 25-5. Dena Ott had nine digs for the Hurricanes, who play Marengo in the regional final at 1 p.m. Saturday. The third-seeded Indians (20-13) came back to beat No. 4 Woodstock, 20-25, 26-24, 25-20. Marengo’s Morgan Bartlett had 15 digs, and Allison Rogutich added six blocks. Woodstock’s Allison Wynn had 15 kills. Woodstock North (4-29) lost to Belvidere North despite Sarah Diamond’s eight assists. Class 3A Burlington Central Regional: Top-seeded Hampshire advanced to the regional final, rallying to beat No. 5 DeKalb, 24-26, 25-16, 27-25. “There was a lot of pressure after Game 1,” Hampshire senior outside hitter Amy Wehrs said, “Knowing that our season – and for the seniors, our high school careers – could be over was a source of momentum for us.” The Whip-Purs (33-4) will play No. 3 Sycamore in the regional championship match at 7 p.m. Saturday. Class 3A Antioch Regional: Taylor Humm and Lexi Wachman each had nine digs for third-seeded Prairie Ridge in a 25-2, 25-3 win against No. 14 Chicago Lake View. The Wolves (27-9) will play No. 6 Antioch for the regional championship at 1 p.m. Saturday. Class 3A Regina Domincan Regional: At Wilmette, seventh-seeded Johnsburg defeated No. 10 Grayslake Central, 25-11, 25-10, as Carly Schmitt and Aubrey Wanta each had eight kills for the Skyhawks (21-15). Johnsburg will play second-seeded St. Viator on Saturday for the regional title. Class 2A Harvard Regional: Ashleigh Fisher had 18 kills for second-seeded Harvard (22-12), which beat No. 4 Rockford Christian, 25-10, 25-15. Katarina Rotta added 24 assists as Harvard advanced to the regional final against No. 2 Rockford Lutheran. GIRLS SWIMMING Woodstock 86, CL Central 84: At Woodstock, Becca Ortmann won the 50-yard freestyle (25.6 seconds) and 100 free (56.5) for Woodstock as the Blue Streaks beat the Tigers. Claire Walker was Central’s top performer, winning the 100 butterfly (1:06.8) and the 200 individual medley (2:26.6). McHenry 113, Dundee-Crown 57: At McHenry, Kristen Lenard won the 200 freestyle and 500 free, and Courtney Matthys won the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke to lead the Warriors to a Fox Valley Conference win.
