Balanced attack works for Raiders

WEST AURORA – Huntley’s girls basketball team used a balanced scoring attack Monday in a 64-54 non-conference win against West Aurora.

Kadie Lowery (18 points), Hillary Johnson (12) and Carly Goede (10) each reached double figures to lead the Red Raiders (3-0).

Vernon Hills Tournament: Emma Everly scored 15 points to lead Woodstock North in a
51-39 loss to Vernon Hills. The Thunder fell to 2-2.

GIRLS BOWLING

Woodstock North 2,066, Huntley 1,780: At Bowl-Hi Lanes in Huntley, Rachel Goldberg rolled a match-high 472 series to lead the Thunder in their Fox Valley Conference win against the Red Raiders.

BOYS BASKETBALL

CL Central Coaches vs. Cancer Thanksgiving Tournament: Crystal Lake Central was led by Reilly Kemp’s 13 points in a
58-53 season-opening loss to Hoffman Estates.

The Tigers (0-1) built a 44-38 lead after three quarters before the Hawks outscored them, 20-9, in the final quarter.

In other tournament play, McHenry lost to Belvidere North, 39-38. Jimmy Preston and Eddie Serrano led the Warriors (0-1) with eight points apiece. Antioch beat Woodstock North, 76-43, and the Thunder (0-1) were led by Bobby Rakoncay’s 10 points. Chad Ljunggren scored 25 points as Prairie Ridge lost to Fremd, 83-62, in its season opener.

WRESTLING

Woodstock 49, Woodstock North 30: At Woodstock, Mitch Schnulle (152 pounds) earned a 9-0 major decision, and Shawn Hovlid (160) earned a pin and led the Blue Streaks (1-0) in their FVC victory against the Thunder (0-1).

BOYS BOWLING

Huntley 2,899, McHenry 2,819: At Raymond’s Johnsburg Bowl, Dylan Rehner rolled a 628 series to lead Huntley to a win.
