Streaks’ Sutter leads win

WOODSTOCK – Mike Sutter scored 21 points, and Jyron Aparri added 18 points as Woodstock’s boys basketball team defeated Big Foot (Wis.), 70-53, in non-conference action Tuesday.

The Blue Streaks (2-3) also got 14 points from Jake Vernola and outscored Big Foot, 24-12, in the third quarter to turn a 25-21 halftime lead into a 49-33 lead after three quarters.

Richmond-Burton 52, Round Lake 41: At Round Lake, Chad O’Kane scored 12 points, and Kyle Wismer added 10 for the Rockets
(2-3) in a non-conference win against the Panthers.

WRESTLING

Marengo Triangular: At Marengo, Mark Henricks defeated his two opponents, and Marengo defeated North Boone, 62-12, and Genoa-Kingston, 43-23, in Big Northern Conference action. Robby Gaines and Michael Meyers also picked up wins for the Indians (5-1 overall, 3-1 BNC).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Cary-Grove 52, CL Central 34: At Cary, the Trojans (6-0) were led by Claire Jakubicek’s 14 points as they defeated the Tigers (4-2) in a Fox Valley Conference crossover game. Nelle Youel led Central with 16 points.

CL South 56, Woodstock North 24: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (3-4) won the FVC crossover and were led by Katie Burton’s 18 points and Michelle Gaede’s 13. Ashley Albertz led Woodstock North (3-3) with 11 points.

Grayslake North 34, McHenry 32: At Grayslake, Ashley Conway led the Warriors (2-3) with 13 points in their FVC crossover loss.

Marengo 62, Oregon 23: At Oregon, the Indians
(4-2) outscored the Hawks, 25-4, in the first half in their BNC crossover win. Jessica Villie scored 15 points for Marengo (4-2).

Hampshire 52, Winnebago 24: At Winnebago, the Whip-Purs (6-0) limited the Indians to single digits in all four quarters and built a
27-10 halftime lead. Hampshire was led by Alex Dumoulin’s 14 points and Christina Heine’s 13 in the BNC crossover win.

Byron 60, Richmond-Burton 42: At Byron, Nikki Zaobidny scored 10 points for the Rockets (2-3), who were outscored, 35-15, in the second half in their BNC crossover loss.

Genoa-Kingston 52, Harvard 30: At Genoa, Sam Herley and Ashley Crosby each scored five points for the Hornets (0-7) in a BNC crossover loss to the Cogs.

Guerin Prep 40, Marian Central 39: At River Grove, the Hurricanes (0-5, 0-1) were led by Shannon Grady’s 10 points in their Suburban Christian Conference Gold Division loss.
