Prairie Ridge, sr.

The Wolves’ goalie had two strong games as Prairie Ridge defeated Culver (Ind.) Academy, 7-3, and Chicago Marist, 3-1, in games Sunday at Crystal Ice House.

Simons turned away 35 shots against Culver. He had 27 saves in the win later that day against Marist.

Prairie Ridge is playing an independent schedule this season and is in the High School Invitational Tournament, a season-long competition against some of the state’s top teams.

Noteworthy

All-Stars announced: The Metro Central Division All-Star roster was announced this week, and the team will represent the division in Chicago Metropolitan Hockey League games played Jan. 31 at West Meadows Ice Arena in Rolling Meadows.

The Metro Central and Metro Northwest combined this season and play in two divisions – American and National – but for purposes of the All-Star games, the Central and Northwest each fielded their own teams. There also will be teams from the Metro North and Metro West playing in the games.

Crystal Lake South, which leads the Metro Central American standings, put five players on the team. Forwards Kenny Hall, Eric Purcell and Mark Greenberg, defenseman Max Hamrick and goalie Eric Bartos made the team. Hall, Purcell and Greenberg are among the top five scorers in the division.

Jacobs put forward Jeremy Gottardo, defenseman Ed Weine and goalie Alex Crescenti on the team. Cary-Grove had forward Jack Segerson and goalie Matt Rowe, and the CCM Tigers have forward Kevin Smith on the team.

C-G forward Thomas Wahl, CCM forward Trey Ridenour and C-G defenseman Mike D’Agostino are alternates.
