Eagles start strong

LOMBARD – The Jacobs girls basketball team took fifth place Wednesday at the Montini Holiday Tournament with a 63-39 win against Chicago Marshall.

The Golden Eagles
(14-5) started strong, outscoring Marshall, 18-3, in the first quarter. Jacobs used a 20-point fourth quarter to further run away from Marshall and finished the tournament with a 2-2 record.

Maria Tamburrino led Jacobs with 17 points.

Jerseyville Holiday Tournament: At Jerseyville, McHenry beat Carrollton, 52-38, to take seventh place. Emma Romme and Alissa Rosga each had 17 points for McHenry (10-8).

HOCKEY

Black River Falls Tournament: At Black River Falls, Wis., Christian Blatner, Mike Kurek and Alex Walczak scored in the second period, and Prairie Ridge beat Eau Claire North, 4-1.
