Slivka scores 27 as Skyhawks cruise

PARK RIDGE – After defeating Fox Valley Conference foe Grayslake Central on Tuesday, Johnsburg’s girls basketball team was back in action Wednesday against Maine South.

Danielle Slivka scored 27 points and hit five three-pointers as the Skyhawks took home the 72-44 win. Melissa Dixon added 20 points for Johnsburg (14-4), which will play another set of back-to-back games this weekend. The Skyhawks will play at Woodstock North on Friday and host New Trier on Saturday.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Elgin 51, Cary-Grove 49: At Elgin, Chad McCarron scored 18 points as Cary-Grove lost in nonconference play. Nick Richter added 13 for the Trojans (4-10).

WRESTLING

Marian Central Triangular: At Woodstock, four Hurricanes won both of their matches as Marian Central defeated Alden-Hebron, 68-9, and lost to Rockford Lutheran, 42-36.

Ryan Hickey (119 pounds), Tyler Hickey (125), Mikey Pappas (160) and Jared Koch (171) each went 2-0 for Marian. Jeremy Gricar (130) and Tyler Henken (135) both went 2-0 for the Giants, who also lost to Rockford Lutheran,
57-21.

BOYS BOWLING

Huntley 3,290, Larkin 2,823: At Huntley, Max Barron bowled a 705 series that included 246 and 245 games as the Red Raiders won the match.

Dylan Rehner added a 698 series with a 248 game for Huntley (4-8).

BOYS HOCKEY

Cary-Grove 6, Huntley/Lake Zurich 2: At Rolling Meadows, Jack Segerson scored three times as the Trojans prevailed.

Jay Napolitano scored and had an assist for Huntley/Lake Zurich.
