


CLC wrestlers clinch in FoxJOHNSBURG – Crystal Lake Central’s wrestling team clinched at least a share of the Fox Valley Conference Fox Division title with a 50-24 win against Johnsburg on Thursday. The Tigers were led by pins from Clay Lutzow (125 pounds) and Gage Harrah (215). Central also received an 18-1 technical fall from Taylor Servant (145). Leading the Skyhawks were Brad Nugent (185) and Zak Diedrickson (285) each with pins. Prairie Ridge 61, Woodstock 12: At Woodstock, Brian Cullen (112 pounds), Mike Smith (125) and Alec English (140) each pinned their opponents and led Prairie Ridge to an FVC Fox win against Woodstock. Shawn Hovlid (152) and Andrew Stolldorf (245) won by decision for the Blue Streaks. Grayslake Central 54, Woodstock North 27: At Woodstock, Jake Powell (171 pounds) and Jon Walsh (152) each earned pins in the Thunder’s FVC Fox loss to the Rams. Cary-Grove 45, Huntley 23: At Cary, Cory Meyer (125 pounds), Terrence Fox (140), David Henri (160) and Rick Kersten (215) pinned their opponents for the Trojans (6-9 overall, 2-2 FVC Valley) in an FVC Valley win. Anthony Giuffre (152) and Josh Symbal (171) each earned pins for Huntley (8-6, 1-3). BOYS BASKETBALL Hampshire 65, Harvard 40: At Harvard, Shyler Ralphs scored 24 points, including five three-pointers, and Justin Bieber added 14 for the Whip-Purs (11-5, 4-1) in a Big Northern Conference East Division win. The Hornets (4-14, 0-4) were led by Chase Blazier’s nine points. GIRLS BASKETBALL Rockford Christian 59, Alden-Hebron 37: At Rockford, Amanda Appner scored 13 points, and Nora VanderPal added 11 for the Giants (6-12, 2-3) in a Northeastern Athletic Conference loss to the Royal Lions. GIRLS BOWLING Huntley 2,156, Dundee-Crown 2,136: At Huntley, Kacy Kane led the Red Raiders with a 656 series and a high game of 201 in their win. Courtney Raske led D-C with a 472 series. Grayslake North 2,271, Woodstock 2,085: At Woodstock, Rachel Goldberg bowled the match-high series (537) and high game (206) for the Blue Streaks in a loss to the Knights. GIRLS GYMNASTICS Barrington Triangular: Carmel dominated the three-team meet, sweeping the top three spots in two events and the all-around to score 149.6 points. Prairie Ridge was second with 145.1. Prairie Ridge’s defending state all-around champion, Taylor Weber was second in vault and Molly Sandquist tied for third.
