


Harvard boys win 3rd in past 4HARVARD – Harvard’s boys basketball team defeated Westminster Christian on Saturday, 36-34, in non-conference play behind some impressive play in the third quarter. The Hornets (7-15) outscored Westminster, 13-5, in the third quarter to turn a 21-15 halftime deficit into a 28-26 lead going into the fourth quarter. Harvard, winner of three of its past four, was led by Collin Nolen’s 14 points and Timmy Linhart’s 10 points. Hampshire 73, Woodstock North 44: At Hampshire, the Whip-Purs (12-8) were led by Justin Bieber (15 points) and Brock Hoffman Estates 38, Huntley 36: At Hoffman Estates, Tyler Brunschon scored 13 points to lead the Red Raiders (12-8) in their non-conference loss. WRESTLING Suburban Christian Conference Mega-Duals: At Lombard, Joey Klinger (130 pounds), Austin Marengo Triangular: Marengo went 1-1 with a win against Hampshire, 40-36, and a loss to Kaneland, 42-33. Torbin Rockford Lutheran Tournament: Tyler Henken (135) earned Outstanding Wrestler of the Tournament and took first in his weight class to lead Alden-Hebron to a seventh-place finish. Rockford Lutheran won the nine-team tournament. GIRLS BASKETBALL Woodstock 50, Woodstock North 28: At Woodstock, Chrissy Velasquez scored 15 points and led the Blue Streaks (8-14, 3-5) in in their Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win against the Thunder (7-16, 1-9). North was led by Haylee Nutter’s seven points. Huntley 65, Dundee-Crown 26: At Huntley, CeCe Tsevas scored 15 points, and Hillary Johnson added 10 for the Red Raiders (11-12, 3-5) in their FVC Valley. D-C (2-19, 0-8) was led by Dana Hampshire 60, North Boone 24: At Poplar Grove, Hampshire (21-1, 7-0) remained undefeated in Big Northern Conference East Division play and was led by Cassie Dumoulin’s 17 points. Wheaton Academy 61, Marian Central 43: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes (3-20, 1-4) were led by Kathleen Patterson’s 12 points in their Suburban Christian Conference Gold Division loss to Wheaton Academy. Sweet Sixteen Tournament: At Oak Park, Johnsburg lost to Barrington, 43-41, and Marian Catholic, 84-31 at the tournament hosted by Fenwick.
