


PR stuns Fremd in 5-run 7thCRYSTAL LAKE – Coaches like to preach that their team is not out of a game until that last out is recorded. Prairie Ridge’s baseball team proved that to be the case Friday in its 5-4, non-conference win against Fremd. The Wolves (3-0) trailed, 4-0, going into the bottom half of the seventh inning and scored five runs to earn the win. Alex Martini, Troy Mertins, Justin Henderson, and Zach Siedlecki got hits in the seventh, and Alex Senyshwyn delivered the winning RBI hit. Zach Coel earned the win by pitching a scoreless seventh and striking out two. BOYS TRACK Illinois Prep Top Times Indoor Classic: At Bloomington, Harvard’s Cody Kramer placed sixth in the 200 meters (23.39 seconds) and the Hornets 4x200 relay team placed sixth (1:36). GIRLS SOCCER Huntley Invitational: Huntley defeated Glenbard North, 4-0, in the first round of the tournament. Scoring goals for the Red Raiders were Cori Wronski, Aimee Wronski, Sam Zobott, and Bre Burry. Aimee Wronski added two assists for Huntley (4-0-0). Kaytlyn Hoffman and Sara Owens combined for the shutout behind goal with a save each. Dundee-Crown 2, Elk Grove 2: At Carpentersville, Katy Olson and Brittany Gantz each scored goals for D-C (1-1-1) in its non-conference tie with the Grenadiers. SOFTBALL Woodstock North 2, Round Lake 0: At Woodstock, Nikki Greenhill struck out eight and earned the non-conference win for the Thunder (2-3). Marian Central 17, CL Central 2 (5 inn.): At Crystal Lake, Kaitlyn Bliss went 3 for 5 with two home runs, a double and five RBIs and Mary Belluomini went 4 for 5 with a double and three RBIs for Marian (3-0). Amber Dyson led Crystal Lake Central (3-1), going 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Sycamore 13, Dundee-Crown 2: At Sycamore, Melanie Love struck out four for the Chargers (0-1) in their loss to the Spartans.
