


Huntley splits pair at softball tourneyFREEPORT – Nikki DeMarco went 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs Saturday to lead the Huntley softball team to a 5-2 win against Milledgeville in the Freeport Invitational. Jenna Mychko went 1 for 2 with an RBI to lead the Red Raiders in a 9-2 loss to Oak Forest. Huntley (4-3) went 1-3 in the tournament. Marengo went 2-1 on the day, beating Metamora, 5-1, and Freeport, 2-1, before losing to Oak Forest, 4-1, in eight innings. Amanda Hart had three RBIs in the win against Metamora for the Indians (6-3). Belvidere Quad: Christine Orndahl struck out six and earned the victory in Woodstock’s 18-13 win against North Boone. The Blue Streaks (1-3) also lost to Belvidere, 6-2. GIRLS SOCCER Cary-Grove 1, Elk Grove 0: At Cary, Ashley Gustafson’s second-half goal proved to be the difference in the Trojans’ non-conference victory. Paige Wooldridge made eight saves for C-G (4-2).
