Mahoney’s double difference for CLS

GRAYSLAKE – Hannah Mahoney drove in the game-winning runs Monday in the Crystal Lake South softball team’s 5-3 win against Grays-lake North.

Mahoney delivered the two-RBI double with two outs in the fifth inning.

Sam Golf struck out 10 and walked two in a five-inning complete game for the Gators (3-1). The game was shortened because of rain and lightning.

McHenry 10, Grayslake Central 1: At Grayslake, Brenda Botzenhart went 3 for 5 with a home run and an RBI, and Rosie Barucca went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Warriors (3-1) to an FVC crossover win against the Rams (1-4). Sara Wegner (1-1) pitched a complete game and earned the win.

GIRLS SOCCER

Huntley 7, McHenry 0: At McHenry, Bre Burry scored two goals, and Aimee Wronski scored a goal and assisted on another to lead the Red Raiders (9-0 overall, 2-0 FVC Valley) in their FVC Valley win against the Warriors (4-2, 0-1).

GIRLS TRACK

CL South Triangular: At Crystal Lake, Amy Fanella won the triple jump (36-7) and the 110 hurdles (15.6 seconds) to lead Huntley (76.5 points) in its win against Crystal Lake South (40) and Woodstock (30.5). Kamile Udrenaite led South by winning the discus (96-51⁄2). Kayla Beattie won the 800 meters (2:22) to lead Woodstock.

BASEBALL

Marian Central 12, Walther Lutheran 6: At Melrose Park, Karl Steiger went 2 for 2 with a grad slam and three runs scored in the Hurricanes’ Suburban Christian Conference victory. Dave Parr (3-0) struck out eight in a complete-game victory for Marian (5-1, 1-0).

Woodstock 4, Guilford 3: At Woodstock, Tyler Weiss went 2 for 3 with a double, triple and an RBI for the Blue Streaks
(4-4) in their non-conference win. Tyler Westman (1-2) struck out three and limited Guilford to two runs to earn the win.

Schaumburg 8, Dundee-Crown 6: At Carpentersville, Jake Romano went 1 for 1 with three RBIs, but the Chargers (3-5) lost in non-conference play.

BOYS TENNIS

Prairie Ridge 6, Grayslake Central 1: At Crystal Lake, Connor Greenwald won at No. 1 singles, and Sam McNally won at No. 2 singles in the Wolves’ FVC win.
