
McHenry pole vault record fallsMcHENRY – Corey Szamlewski set a school record with a vault of 14 feet, 1 inch to lead McHenry to first place as a team at its own triangular Monday at McCracken Field. Carey Nolan won the 100 (11.3 seconds) and 400 (51.7) meters for McHenry. Danny Trevor won the 110 high hurdles (15.0) and 300 intermediate hurdles (40.5) for Jacobs, which was third with 38 points. Grayslake Central was second with 65 points. CL Central Quadrangular: Crystal Lake Central (1631⁄2) was led by Ryan Alvarez’s victory in the 1,600 (4:47) and Chris Alvarez’s win in the 800 (2:04). Woodstock North (27) placed third and was led by second-place finishes in the 4x100 relay (47.2) and 4x200 relay (1:44). Dakota Pruitt placed second in the 3,200 meters (10:14) to lead Johnsburg (25.5). Grayslake North (44) took second. Cary-Grove Triangular: Eddy Gibbons won the 800 (2:05.2) to lead Cary-Grove to a team win with 66 points. Kerry Kohlbacher won the 400 (50.92) for Prairie Ridge, which was second with 58 points. Pat Livengood won the long jump (19-7) and the high jump (6-5) for Dundee-Crown (48). Christian Liberty Meet: At Arlington Heights, Alden-Hebron’s Zack Kleven broke a 23-year-old school shot put record by 1 inch with his throw of 43-11. He broke his own school record in the discus last week. Kleven won the shot put and discus, Nick Nelson won the 110 high hurdles, Dillion Lalor won the 100 meters and Zac Olson won the 200 for the Giants. BASEBALL CL South 10, Grayslake North 0: At Grayslake, Mark Hode pitched 61⁄3 innings and racked up seven strikeouts for the Gators (5-5, 3-1) in a Fox Valley Conference crossover game against the Knights (0-5, 0-4). CL Central 9, Richmond-Burton 4: At Richmond, Dominick Minogue went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Tigers (9-2) in a non-conference win. Donny Stupienski was 2 for 3 for the Rockets (4-9). Huntley 10, Sycamore 8: At Huntley, Chris Klein went 3 for 4 with a home run, triple, two runs scored and four RBIs to lead the Red Raiders (8-1) to a non-conference win. Tom Crohan homered for Huntley, and Jeremy Ahillen (2-0) earned the win. Grant 7, Johnsburg 6; At Johnsburg, Hayden Cavanaugh went 2 for 3 with a triple, four RBIs and a run scored for the Skyhawks (4-4) in their non-conference loss to the Bulldogs. Hampshire 11, Genoa-Kingston 3: At Hampshire, Max Shaw hit a bases-loaded triple and drove in seven runs, and Luke Wians (1-0) struck out 13 and earned the Big Northern Conference crossover win for the Whip-Purs (4-6). Kirkland Hiawatha 6, Alden-Hebron 3: At Kirkland, Ian Johnson had a double and an RBI, and the Giants (0-5) lost in non-conference action. TENNIS McHenry 6, Grant 1: At Fox Lake, Evan Szechowycz won at No. 1 singles to lead the Warriors (1-2) to a non-conference win. Marengo 3, Woodstock North 2: At Marengo, Tyler Van Voorhees won at No. 2 singles, and the Indians (1-0) defeated the Thunder in non-conference action.
