Jacobs tennis team sweeps Wauconda

WAUCONDA – The Jacobs boys tennis team improved to 9-2 this season with a 7-0 non-conference win against Wauconda on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles took all seven matches in straight sets, with Tom Schreiner winning his No. 2 doubles match in straight 6-0 sets.

CL South 4, Grayslake North 3: At Grayslake, the Gators (6-0, 3-0) won out in doubles play to win the Fox Valley Conference match. Jimmy Uvodich and Ryan Kinross won their No. 4 doubles match, 6-0, 6-0.

McHenry 5, Cary-Grove 2: At McHenry, Jake Romme and Dave Robinson won their No. 1 doubles match, and the Warriors (3-3, 2-2) beat the Trojans in FVC action. Matt Butler won at No. 1 singles for C-G.

Warren 5, Prairie Ridge 2: At Crystal Lake, Connor Greenwald won at No. 1 singles, and Mac Curtis and Bijan Heydari won at No. 3 doubles as the Wolves (3-2) lost a non-conference match.

Hononegah 5, Marengo 0: At Rockton, the Indians (1-2, 0-1 Big Northern Conference) were shut out in singles and doubles play.

Grant 4, Marian Central 3: At Fox Lake, Riley Waters (No. 1 singles) and Andy Waters (No. 2 singles) won their matches, but the Hurricanes lost in non-conference action.

CL Central 15, Jacobs 5: At Algonquin, Dominick Minogue was 3 for 4 with a home run, triple, and six RBIs in the Tigers’ FVC crossover win.

Connor Sadzeck (3-1) struck out 11 and got the win for Central
(11-2, 4-1 FVC Fox Division) against Jacobs (3-6-1, 1-4 FVC Valley).

Woodstock North 17, Luther North 11:
At Woodstock, James Quick (2-0) drove in four runs and earned the victory in the non-conference win for the Thunder (4-5).

Richmond-Burton 11, Genoa-Kingston 1: At Richmond, the Rockets
(5-8) were led by Bryan Lislie (1-3), who went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and struck out four to earn the win.

TRACK

McHenry 74.5, Zion-Benton 74.5, Waukegan 35: At Zion, the Warriors won seven events to tie for the lead with host Zion-Benton.

Carey Nolan and Jon Schmitt each won two events for McHenry. Nolan took the triple jump at 42 feet, 8 inches and the 200 meters in 22.7 seconds. Schmitt won the 110 high hurdles (15.4) and the 300 intermediate hurdles (40.7).
