


CL Central rolls to softball victoryWOODSTOCK – Crystal Lake Central’s softball team used a 17-hit attack to defeat Woodstock North, 11-4, on Friday in a Fox Valley Conference Fox Division game. The Tigers (9-3 overall, 6-0 FVC Fox) were led by Brittany York, who went 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI, Amber Dyson, who went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Amy Rink, who went 3 for 5 with two RBIs. Earning the win for Central was Jackie Kisman, who struck out seven. North (6-9, 3-2) was led Kaitlin Chamberlain, who went 2 for 2 with a triple and two RBIs, and Bria Romine, who went 2 for 4. Prairie Ridge 10, Johnsburg 0 (6 inn.): At Crystal Lake, Johanna Turner (5-4) struck out five and walked none in the Wolves’ FVC Fox win against the Skyhawks. Genna Hampen went 2 for 3, and Danielle Samuels drove in a run for Prairie Ridge (7-5, 4-1). Johnsburg (4-5,1-3) was led by Mary Chamberlain, who went 2 for 3. Jacobs 16, McHenry 4 Megan Gier homered and doubled for the Warriors (6-5, 2-3). Huntley 17, Dundee-Crown 2 (5 inn.): At Carpentersville, Amanda Wisniewski homered, doubled and drove in three runs for the Red Raiders (9-4, 3-1) in their FVC Valley win. Danna Jensen drove in a run for the Chargers (0-10, 0-5). Marengo 12, Stillman Valley 2 (6 inn.): At Marengo, Kaleigh Velasquez went 3 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs, and Chloe Montgomery went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs in the Indians’ Big Northern Conference crossover win. Mattie McGuire (2-1) struck out five and earned the win for Marengo (12-3). Carmel 7, Marian Central 6: At Woodstock, Kaitlyn Bliss and Dorothy Castronova each went 2 for 4 with a double for the Hurricanes (3-5) in a non-conference loss. SOCCER Grayslake Central 1, Woodstock North 0: At Grayslake, Melanie Vrasich made 15 saves for the Thunder (0-6-0, 0-4-0) in their FVC Fox loss to the Rams (5-6-0, 1-3-0). Harlem Tournament: At Machesney Park, Alex Krueger scored two goals to lead the Blue Streaks to a 5-0 win against Belvidere. Allison Wynn made three saves for Woodstock (5-4). Richmond-Burton Invitational: At Richmond, Alex Field scored three goals for Hampshire (6-5), which jumped out to a 7-0 halftime lead in an 8-0 victory against North Boone in the first round. TRACK Pretzel Invitational: At Freeport, Kayla Beattie won the 1,600 meters (5:14) and took second in the 800 (2:21), and Elise Beattie won the 3,200 (11:12) to help Woodstock (95 points) finish third. Rochelle won the meet with 168 points. CL Central Invitational: Rachel Bush, Molly Flood, Katie Idstein and Taylor Miller won the 4x800 relay (10:23.69) for the host Tigers, who finished fourth (95.5 points) at the eight-team meet.
