Marengo rallies past Oregon in 7th

MARENGO – Marengo’s baseball team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday to come back and beat Oregon, 4-3, in a Big Northern Conference crossover game. Junior Brad Seemann had the winning hit for the Indians (3-13), knocking in Jarvis Hernandez and Jake Wajda on a two-out single.

David Diedrick led off the inning with a walk and came around to score on a single from Jake Tucker.

Marengo has won two of its past three games after starting the year losing 12 of 13.

Gurnee Warren 10, Richmond-Burton 0 (5 inn.): At Gurnee, Matt Malecki had two hits as the Rockets (7-10) lost in non-conference play.

Johnsburg 4, Antioch 1: Mitch Noncek (2-3) struck out 13 and pitched a complete game to earn the non-conference win for the Skyhawks (5-9). David Virgo and Dominic Pascente each went 2 for 3, and Michael Molway hit a double and drove in a run for Johnsburg.

Mundelein 10, CL Central 0 (5 inn.): At Crystal Lake, starting pitcher John Nemcek (0-2) and the Tigers (11-6) lost in non-conference action.

Berean Baptist 7, Alden-Hebron 4: At Hebron, Ian Johnson, Cody Eskridge and Hunter Ogle each had an RBI for the Giants (0-10), who lost a non-conference game.

TRACK

CL South Triangular: Marc DiVerde won the 3,200 meters (10:00) and Matt Neubauer won the 1,600 to lead Prairie Ridge to the meet win with 87 points.

Kenny King won the 200 (23.2 seconds) to lead Crystal Lake South (47) to a third-place finish. Grayslake North (52) finished second.

Huntley Quadrangular: At Huntley, Dyllon McKinney won the 200 (22.6) and the long jump (19-11) to help lead Central to a first-place finish with 99 points. McHenry (70 points) took second, Dundee-Crown (62) was third and Huntley (41) was fourth.

Jacobs Triangular: At Algonquin, Jacobs’ Danny Trevor won the 110 hurdles (14.8) and the 300 hurdles (41.2) as the Golden Eagles took first with 84.5 points.

Nate Hams won the 100 (11.7) and led Woodstock (50) to a second-place finish.

Johnsburg (45.5) placed third and was led by Jake Szramek’s victory in the pole vault (11-6).

Genoa-Kingston 96, Marengo 50: At Genoa, Mike Harrah won the 200 (24.50) and took second in the long jump (19-5), and Matt Harrah won the long jump (19-91⁄2) to lead the Indians in their loss to Cogs.

Grayslake Central Triangular: At Grayslake, Phil Farleigh won the 1,600 (4:33.2) to help Cary-Grove finish second with 61 points. Joe Ryan won the 400 (52.1,) and Josh Freeman won the shot put (44-21⁄2) and the discus (133-2).

Woodstock North’s Jon Walsh won the high jump (5-10) and finished second in the triple jump (36-11) and fourth in the long jump (17-5.25).

TENNIS

Prairie Ridge 7, Dundee-Crown 0: At Carpentersville, John Andress won at No. 3 singles, and Mac Curtis and Bijan Heydri won at No. 3 doubles to lead the Wolves in their FVC sweep of the Chargers (3-6, 0-5).

Johnsburg 5, Jacobs 2: At Algonquin, Dan Martin won at No. 1 singles and Tom Rocko won at No. 3 singles to help the Skyhawks defeat the Golden Eagles in FVC action.

Tom Schreiner won at No. 2 singles for Jacobs (10-3, 5-1).

Grayslake North 4, Cary-Grove 3; At Cary, Chris Federighi won at No. 1 singles, and Alex Koerber and Owen Russell won at No. 2 doubles for the Trojans (1-9, 0-6), who lost to the Knights in FVC action.

Grayslake Central 5, Huntley 2: At Huntley, Tanner Novalinski and Mike Kamper (No. 1 doubles) and Francis Ramirez and Brendan Bozic (No. 3 doubles) won their matches for the Red Raiders in their FVC loss to the Rams.

Fremd 7, CL Central 0: At Crystal Lake, the Vikings swept the Tigers in a non-conference contest.

St. Francis 4, Marian Central 1: At Woodstock, Aaron Waters won for the Hurricanes at No. 2 singles in their Suburban Christian Conference loss to the Spartans.

Elgin Academy 5, Marengo 0: At Marengo, Elgin Academy swept the Indians (0-5) in a non-conference match.

CL South 7, Woodstock North 0: At Crystal Lake, the Gators (9-0, 6-0) swept the Thunder. Cam Laktash won at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1.

McHenry 6, Woodstock 0: At McHenry, Evan Szechowycz won at No. 1 singles, and Jake Romme and Dave Robinson won at No. 1 doubles for the Warriors (5-2, 4-2).
