Talbot, Johnsburg shut down Dundee-Crown

JOHNSBURG – Derek Talbot allowed only two hits to Dundee-Crown in Johnsburg’s 4-0 Fox Valley Conference crossover baseball victory Tuesday.

Talbot (2-2) threw a complete game, striking out six and walking one to earn the win against the Chargers (9-8-1 overall, 6-3 FVC Valley).

Trevor Cherwin and Talbot each went 2 for 3 with a double and RBI for the Skyhawks (6-9, 2-6 FVC Fox), and Hayden Cavanaugh also went 2 for 3 with a stolen base.

Woodstock 8, CL South 6: At Woodstock, Shawn Hovlid went 4 for 4 with a double and two RBIs, and Matt McGinley went 2 for 4 with a home run and three RBIs to lead the Blue Streaks to an FVC crossover win against the Gators. Tyler Weiss added a home run and an RBI for Woodstock (7-9, 2-5 FVC Fox). South (7-8, 5-4 FVC Valley) was led by Greg Pagnotta’s two home runs and two RBIs.

McHenry 5, CL Central 3: At Crystal Lake, Pat Murphy hit a home run and drove in a run, and the Warriors (11-3, 7-2 FVC Valley) defeated the Tigers in FVC crossover action. Central (11-7, 4-5 FVC Fox) was led by John Nemcek’s triple and RBI.

Cary-Grove 6, Grayslake Central 4: At Grayslake, Michael Devoe earned his first win of the season, giving up three hits in five innings of relief in an FVC crossover game.

Steve Hapanovich went 1 for 1 with two RBIs and Steven Mihalik was 3 for 4 with an RBI for the Trojans (9-7, 5-3 FVC Valley).

Jacobs 10, Woodstock North 2: At Woodstock, Ben Albano went 2 for 5 with a solo home run and four RBIs, and the Golden Eagles defeated the Thunder in an FVC crossover game. Joe Ross (2-0) struck out eight and earned the win for Jacobs (6-8, 3-6 FVC Valley).

Eddie Bauer went 1 for 1 with a home run and an RBI for the Thunder (4-7, 0-5 FVC Fox).

Richmond-Burton 19, Marengo 0 (5 inn.): At Richmond, Tyler Volling went 4 for 4 with three doubles and three RBIs, and Jon Tiso went 2 for 3 with a double, a home run and four RBIs to lead the Rockets to the Big Northern Conference East Division victory. Volling (2-3) also struck out nine to earn the win for R-B (8-10, 1-1).

AJ Lohff went 2 for 3 for the Indians (3-14, 0-3).

Marmion 9, Marian Central 4: At Aurora, Dave Parr pitched 52⁄3 innings, giving up nine runs with two of them earned on seven hits in a Suburban Christian Conference Blue Division loss for Marian (11-3, 5-1).

TENNIS

CL Central 5, Cary-Grove 2: At Crystal Lake, Riley Bauman and Jake Ross earned their first FVC victory for the Tigers (3-5, 3-3) with a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 1 doubles.

Chris Federighi won his No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-1 and Matt Butler won his No. 2 singles match, 6-3, 6-2, for the Trojans (1-10, 0-7).

Grayslake North 5, Huntley 2: At Grayslake, Ian Stellmach and Eric Loboda won their No. 2 doubles match, 1-6, 6-4, 6-4, in an FVC loss for the Red Raiders.

Prairie Ridge 7, Woodstock 0: At Woodstock, Patrick Hallinan won his No. 3 singles match, 6-0, 6-0, in the Wolves’ FVC win against the Blue Streaks (2-3, 1-3).

McHenry 6, Woodstock North 1: At McHenry, Dylan Clark won at No. 2 singles as the Warriors won the FVC match.

Willy Stastny added a win at No. 3 singles for McHenry (6-2, 5-2). Genyl Rufino won at No. 1 singles for the Thunder.

Marian Central 4, Walther Lutheran 1: At Woodstock, Conor Moon and Brian Pavey won their No. 1 doubles match 6-3, 7-5 and Aaron Waters won his No. 2 singles match 6-4, 6-2 for the Hurricanes.

TRACK

Harvard 95, Wauconda 50: At Wauconda, Oscar Morales won the 3,200 meters (10:30) and the 1,600 meters (4:52), and Cody Kramer won the 100 meters (11.1) and the 200 meters (22.4) in Harvard’s dual win.
