Klein helps Huntley avenge defeat

HUNTLEY – Huntley’s baseball team lost by 10 runs in five innings Tuesday against Prairie Ridge.

Thursday, the Red Raiders made the most of their chance for redemption against the Wolves.

Chris Klein homered and had four RBIs for Huntley in a 10-8 Fox Valley Conference crossover win. Prairie Ridge scored three times in each of the first two innings to take a 6-4 lead, but Huntley scored six times in the third to take the lead for good.

Carlos Alvarez and Matt Szytz each had two RBIs for Huntley (14-2 overall, 8-1 FVC Valley). Jon Williams doubled, tripled and scored four runs for Prairie Ridge (10-6, 6-2 FVC Fox).

CL South 4, Woodstock 3: At Crystal Lake, Bill Wright went 4 for 5 and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth for the Gators (10-8, 6-4 FVC Valley) in an FVC crossover.

Woodstock (8-9, 2-6 FVC Fox) had a 2-0 lead for the first three innings and tied the score, 3-3, in the fifth. Tyler Weiss went 3 for 4, drove in a run and struck out four for the Blue Streaks.

Jacobs 10, Woodstock North 0 (6 inn.): At Algonquin, Ben Albano homered and had three RBIs as the Golden Eagles won an FVC crossover. Zach Bates had three RBIs for Jacobs (7-8-1, 4-6 FVC Valley).

James Quick had two hits for the Thunder (4-9, 0-7 FVC Fox).

McHenry 9, CL Central 1: At McHenry, Justin Diedrich and Kevin Wollscheid each had two RBIs as the Warriors won an FVC crossover. Gene Pila had two hits and an RBI for McHenry (12-3, 8-2 Valley).

Chase Skrypek had an RBI for the Tigers (11-8, 4-6 Fox).

Dundee-Crown 11, Johnsburg 1 (6 inn.): At Carpentersville, Zach Vodicka drove in three runs for the Chargers (10-8, 7-3 FVC Valley) in an FVC crossover win against Johnsburg (6-11, 3-7 FVC Fox).

Richmond-Burton 7, North Boone 5: At Poplar Grove, John Tiso had two RBIs as the Rockets won a Big Northern Conference East Division game. Kevin Kurowski added a double for R-B (9-10, 2-1).

Burlington Central 7, Harvard 3: At Burlington, Cody Melson homered twice for the Hornets, who lost in BNC East play. Chase Blazier struck out six but took the loss for Harvard (13-5, 2-2).

Hampshire 5, Marengo 0: At Hampshire, Nick Holze drove in two runs for the Whip-Purs (8-7, 3-0) in a BNC win against the Indians (3-15, 0-4).

Immaculate Conception 3, Marian Central 2: At Woodstock, Scott Franzegrote had three hits, but the Hurricanes lost a Suburban Christian Conference crossover. Andrew Stone scored twice for Marian (11-5).

North Shore Country Day 15, Alden-Hebron 2 (5 inn.): At Hebron, Hunter Ogle drove in a run and scored a run for the Giants (0-11, 0-4) in a Northeastern Athletic Conference loss.

TENNIS

Prairie Ridge 7, Woodstock North 0: At Crystal Lake, Connor Greenwald won at No. 1 singles, and the Wolves swept an FVC match against the Thunder. Sam McNally added a win at No. 2 singles for Prairie Ridge (8-2, 8-0).

CL Central 6, Huntley 1: At Huntley, Tommy Nelson won at No. 1 singles for the Tigers in an FVC win.

Ian Stellmach and Brendan Bozic won at No. 2 doubles for the Red Raiders.

Grayslake North 4, Dundee-Crown 3: At Carpentersville, the Chargers were swept in singles play in losing an FVC dual meet. Adam Johnston and Mike Gaffney won at No. 2 doubles for D-C (3-8, 0-7).

CL South 6, Jacobs 1: At Huntley, Cam Laktash won at No. 1 singles to lead the Gators (11-0, 8-0) to an FVC win.

Tom Shreiner won at No. 2 singles for the Golden Eagles (10-4, 5-2).

Johnsburg 5, McHenry 2: At McHenry, Johnsburg (9-1, 6-1) swept the singles, led by Dan Martin at No. 1, in an FVC win against the Warriors (7-3, 5-3).

Grayslake Central 5, Woodstock 2: At Woodstock, Bryce Webster and Brian Howatt won at No. 1 doubles for the Blue Streaks (2-6, 1-5) in an FVC loss.

Marian Central 5, Aurora Central Catholic 0: At Woodstock, Riley Waters and Aaron Waters won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively, and the Hurricanes won in Suburban Christian Conference play.

Belvidere 4, Marengo 1: At Marengo, Austin Brettschneider and Gavin Smith won at No. 3 doubles for the Indians (0-7) in a non-conference loss.
