


Towne boosts Harvard in 7th for another dramatic victoryHARVARD – Patrick Towne drove in two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Harvard an 8-7 non-conference win against Rockford Lutheran on Monday. Towne also picked up the win to improve to 3-1 on the year. This is the third game this season that the Hornets (14-5) have come back to win in the bottom of the seventh. “We’ve been very positive all year,” Harvard coach Ryan Frenk said. “These guys battle all the way through.” Chase Blazier led the Hornets at the plate with a homer, a double, three RBIs and three runs scored. Wauconda 5, Richmond-Burton 2: At Richmond, Jon Tiso doubled in a run for the Rockets (9-11) in a non-conference loss. McHenry 11, Woodstock 7: At McHenry, Matt Banks earned his first win of the season in 22⁄3 innings of relief work for the Warriors (14-3 overall, 10-2 Fox Valley Conference Valley Division) in their FVC crossover win against the Blue Streaks. Gene Pila led McHenry at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a triple and three RBIs. Mitch Schnulle went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Woodstock (8-11, 2-8). Prairie Ridge 6, Lakes 1: At Lake Villa, Zach Siedlecki drove in two runs for the Wolves (12-6) in a non-conference win. Huntley 25, Woodstock North 2 (5 inn.): Bryce Only hit a grand slam to lead the Red Raiders (15-4, 9-3 FVC Valley) to an FVC crossover win. Eddie Bauer doubled for the Thunder (4-12, 0-11). Marian Central 12, Alden-Hebron 2 (5 inn.): At Woodstock, the Hurricanes scored nine runs in the bottom of the fifth to defeat the Giants by the 10-run rule. Chris Wagner earned the win, allowing two runs on three hits, and Riley Balduf went 3 for 3 with a triple and an RBI for Marian (12-5). A-H (0-12) was led by Shane Engelbrecht, who went 2 for 3 with a double. TENNIS CL South 6, CL Central 1: At Crystal Lake South, Cam Laktash won, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, for South (12-0, 9-0) at No. 1 singles against Tommy Nelson, and the Gators won an FVC dual meet. Tyler George won at No. 2 singles for the Tigers (4-6, 4-4). Grayslake Central 4, McHenry 3: At Grayslake, Willy Stastny won for the Warriors (7-4, 5-4) at No. 3 singles in an FVC loss. Johnsburg 7, Wauconda 0: At Wauconda, Dan Martin won at No. 1 singles for the Skyhawks (10-1) in a non-conference win. Jacobs 6, Elgin Academy 1: At Algonquin, Tom Schreiner won at No. 1 singles for the Golden Eagles (11-4) in a non-conference win. Grant 4, Marengo 1: At Fox Lake, Tyler VanVoorhees won at No. 1 singles for the Indians (0-8) in a non-conference loss. TRACK Huntley Triangular: At Huntley, Marcus Popenfoose won the discus (176-5), and Nick Davila won the 200 meters (22.7) to lead the Red Raiders to victory with 91 points. Cary-Grove (72 points) won three relays, and Ryan Borys won the 100 meters (11.2). Jerry Ganshirt won the 300 hurdles (43.3) and finished second in the 200 meters (23.8) for Johnsburg (23 points). Dundee-Crown Triangular: At Carpentersville, Pat Livengood finished first in the high jump (6-4) and long jump (19.5), and Miles Adkins won the 100 (11.2) and 200 (23.6) to lead D-C to victory with 85 points. Jacobs finished second with 59. Grayslake North took third with 38. Jacobs won the 4x400 relay (3:38) and the 4x200 relay (1:36.9), and Danny Trevor won the 300 hurdles and 110 high hurdles (40.1; 14.9). CL South Triangular: Devin Friske won the high jump (6-0) and the triple jump (38-4) to lead McHenry to victory (76 points). Mike Hernandez won the 400 (54.7) and the 200 (23.9) for South, which finished second (61). T.J.
