PR’s Turner blanks CL Central

CRYSTAL LAKE – In a contest with first place on the line, Prairie Ridge’s softball team rode Johanna Turner’s arm to a 7-0 win against Crystal Lake Central in Fox Valley Conference Fox Division play Tuesday.

Turner (7-6) struck out eight, limited the Tigers to two hits and put the Wolves a game ahead of the Tigers in the FVC Fox. Prairie Ridge (11-8 overall, 7-1 FVC Fox) was led by Erin Smith, who went 2 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Kirsten Stevens, who went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Central (12-6, 6-2) was led by Amber Dyson, who went 1 for 2, and Jackie Kisman, who struck out four and took the loss.

Woodstock North 7, Grayslake Central 6: At Woodstock, Kaitlin Chamberlain drove in the winning run in the bottom of the sixth and went 2 for 3 as the Thunder defeated the Rams (5-13, 3-6) in FVC Fox action. Nikki Greenhill (9-9) pitched a complete game and struck out six to earn the win for North (9-12, 6-3).

Grayslake North 11, Woodstock 8: At Woodstock, the Blue Streaks (4-14, 1-7) lost an FVC Fox game to the Knights (9-8, 5-3).

Harvard 9, Richmond-Burton 1: At Richmond, Michaela Binz went 4 for 5 with a two-run home run and four RBIs for the Hornets in a Big Northern Conference East Division win against the Rockets. Lindsay Melson (14-5) struck out 12 and earned the win for Harvard (14-5, 4-1). Miranda Burns homered for R-B (8-12, 1-3).

Marengo 13, North Boone 0: At Poplar Grove, Chloe Montgomery (four RBIs), Kaleigh Velasquez (three RBIs), Alysa Grude (three RBIs) and Mattie McGuire all homered in a BNC East win for the Indians (20-3, 5-0).

McGuire (5-0) pitched five innings, striking out eight and walking none.

Alden-Hebron 10, Rockford Christian Life 0 (5 inn.): At Rockford, Hayli Lagerhausen gave up one hit in four innings to get the Northeastern Athletic Conference win for the Giants (12-8, 6-3 NAC).


SOCCER

Huntley 2, Jacobs 1: At Huntley, Aimee Wronski scored the winning goal in the second half of an FVC Valley win for the Red Raiders (15-3, 5-1).

Alex Williams made three saves for Jacobs (6-7-1, 1-3).

Woodstock 2, Grayslake North 1: At Grayslake, Katie Ruben and Alex Krueger each scored to lead the Blue Streaks in an FVC Fox win against the Knights (10-7-1, 4-3). Angela Jude made 10 saves for Woodstock (6-8, 3-5).

Grayslake Central 2, Woodstock North 0: At Woodstock, the Rams (10-6, 5-3) defeated the Thunder (2-9, 0-7) in an FVC Fox matchup.

Marian Central 4, Immaculate Conception 3: At Elmhurst, the Hurricanes received two goals from Katie Przybysz and a goal each from Shannon and Lauren Grady in their Suburban Christian Conference Blue Division win. Marian (14-2-1, 6-1 SCC) also got two saves from goalkeeper Jessica Simmons.


TRACK

Harvard Triangular: Emily Scott won the shot put (34 feet, 5 inches) and the discus (109-91⁄2), and Kassie Wallner won the 100 meters (13.6 seconds) as Harvard (58 points) won the meet.

Marian Central (55 points) was led by Alli Manning’s winning 3,200 time of 13:09 and Steffi Carran, who won the 800 (2:37). Amanda Appner won the 1,600 (6:23) to lead Alden-Hebron (38).


BADMINTON

Stevenson 14, McHenry 1: At Lincolnshire, Mary Kate Freund won at No. 4 singles for the Warriors’ only win against the Patriots.
