Lagerhausen sisters pitch A-H to road sweep

WILLIAMS BAY, Wis. – Alden-Hebron’s softball team used a pair of strong pitching performances from sisters Hayli and Sparkle Lagerhausen on Saturday to help lead the Giants to a doubleheader sweep against Faith Christian in non-conference action.

Hayli, a junior, improved to 11-8 by allowing one hit and striking out 10 in the Giants’ 9-0 win in Game 1. Sparkle (4-0), a freshman, also struck out 10 and allowed two earned runs as A-H won Game 2, 7-3.

Lexi Wanderer went 2 for 4 with a triple and two runs in the first game, and Julie Bryan went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run for the Giants (15-8).

In the second game, Ciara Niemeyer and Joy Bryan each went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and two runs for A-H.

Grant 2, Johnsburg 1: At Johnsburg, Jordan Hauck drove in Melissa McDonald in the bottom of the first for the Skyhawks’ only run in a non-conference loss. Mary Chamberlain (6-9) struck out seven and gave up a two-run home run in the first inning in taking the loss for Johnsburg (8-14).

Richmond-Burton 10-1, Oregon 0-7: At Oregon, Jessica Kerns pitched five shutout innings and went 2 for 4 with an RBI to help the Rockets win the opener of a Big Northern Conference crossover doubleheader against Oregon. Caitlin Richert went 2 for 3 with a double in the second game, but R-B (10-13) lost.

Lake Zurich 13, Jacobs 3 (6 inn.): At Lake Zurich, Kelsey Peterson had three RBIs, and Kara Arceneaux went 2 for 2 with a run, but the Golden Eagles (11-7) lost in non-conference action.


SOCCER

CL South 4, McHenry 1: At McHenry, Kali Loescher scored two goals, on assists from Christina Szocka and Alison Agnes, and the Gators (13-6-2, 5-1) won their Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game. Molly Machometa scored for the Warriors (8-8, 2-5-0).

Grayslake Central 1, Woodstock 0 (OT): At Grayslake, Allison Wynn recorded 14 saves for the Blue Streaks (6-10-0, 3-7-0) in their FVC Fox loss to the Rams. Savannah Mudd scored for Grayslake Central (11-6-0, 7-3-0).

Prairie Ridge 3, Hoffman Estates 0: At Hoffman Estates, Erin Kehoe scored a goal and assisted on another in the Wolves’ non-conference win against the Hawks. Kelsey Bear and Rachel Didier scored the other goals for Prairie Ridge (14-1-2).

TRACK

NorthStar Invitational: At Waukesha, Wis., Marianne Collard won the 1,000 meters (3:05) and took second in the 600 (1:40) to lead Crystal Lake South (93.5 points) to a second-place team finish.

The Gators also took second in the 4x400 relay (4:15), and Kristina Aubert took second in the 3,200 meters (11:11). Milwaukee Tech won the 16-team meet with 122 points.

Mooseheart Relays: Lacy Beck took third in the long jump (13-10) and the 100 hurdles (16.99 seconds) to lead Alden-Hebron.
