Larson fans 12; Huntley blanks D-C

HUNTLEY – Taylor Larson (13-5) struck out 12 and gave up two hits to earn a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division softball win for Huntley in a 10-0, six-inning victory against Dundee-Crown on Monday.

Jenna Mychko went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two RBIs, and Kelsey Hagan went 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs for Huntley (15-6 overall, 7-2 FVC Valley). The Chargers (1-16, 0-10) got hits from Melany Love and Brittany Schultz.

Prairie Ridge 10, Johnsburg 1: At Johnsburg, Wolves pitcher Kirsten Stevens had a perfect game going into the seventh inning before Johnsburg pitcher Mary Chamberlain broke it up with a triple. Stevens struck out 14 and walked none over seven innings in an FVC Fox Division win for Prairie Ridge (15-9, 9-1).
Jordan Hauck drove in Chamberlain for Johnsburg (8-15, 3-7).

Jacobs 9, McHenry 4: At McHenry, Jenna Teson went 4 for 4 with an RBI, and Kara Arceneaux went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Golden Eagles in an FVC Valley win. Amber Livingston gave up one run in five innings and earned the win for Jacobs (12-7, 6-3).
Megan Gier went 3 for 4, and Brenda Botzenhart went 2 for 3 for the Warriors (8-10, 4-6).

CL Central 8, Woodstock North 5: At Crystal Lake, Jackie Kisman struck out eight and pitched a complete game to earn an FVC Fox win for the Tigers (15-7, 9-2). Amber Dyson went 4 for 4 with an RBI for Central. Nikki Greenhill went 2 for 3 with a double and a triple for the Thunder (10-13, 7-5).

Prairie Ridge 1, Wauconda 0: At Wauconda, Becca Reitz scored the only goal of the game, and Kyli Humm recorded six saves in the non-conference win for the Wolves (15-1-2).

Hampshire 7, Harvard 0: At Hampshire, Paige Palubicki scored three goals, and Kelsey Burke had two assists for the Whip-Purs (13-5, 6-0) in their Big Northern Conference East win. Harvard (2-10, 0-6) had three shots on Hampshire goalkeeper Haylee Moscato.

Johnsburg 4, Woodstock North 0: At Johnsburg, Lauren Rodgers scored two goals for the Skyhawks (6-9, 4-5) in an FVC Fox win against Woodstock North (2-10, 0-8). Susan Conroy and Rebecca Stelzer added one goal a piece for Johnsburg.

TRACK

Woodstock North Triangular: Sarah Sheehan won the pole vault (9 feet) and the 100-meter dash (13.26 seconds) and Amy Fanella won the triple jump (37-3) and the 300 hurdles (46.24) to lead the Red Raiders (90 points) to the meet win. Olivia Mayer won the long jump (16-4) and took second in the triple jump (32-9) to lead Jacobs (32) to a second-place finish. Woodstock North (15) placed third and was led by Ashley Albertz’s wins in the shot put (32-10) and discus (87-4).

Woodstock Triangular: At Woodstock, Cary-Grove won the 4x800 relay and the 4x100 relay to help the Trojans win the meet with 83 points. McHenry finished second with 51 points, and Woodstock took third with 49.

Lizzie Dyrek won the shot put (32-5 1/2) and finished second in the discus (91-8), and Kelly McCoy won the 100-meter high hurdles (15.6) and Lindsay Young won the 400 (1:01.3) to help C-G.

Woodstock’s Cynthia Arroyo won the 3,200-meter run (13:04.6) and Gabby Schmidt won the 100-meter dash (12.7) while Ashley Conway picked up a win for McHenry in the high jump (5-0) and Abi Weisenberger won the pole vault (33-3.25).

Johnsburg Triangular: Crystal Lake South (68.5) took first, followed by Dundee-Crown (44.5) and Johnsburg (21). Marianne Collard won the 1,600 (5:52.75), and the Gators won the 4x400 (4:57.28), 4x100 (53.78) and 4x200 (1:54.30) relays.

Johnsburg’s 4x100 relay (55.85 seconds) took second.
