MacKenzie’s RBI in 7th gives Harvard win against Marengo

HARVARD – John Mac-Kenzie drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Harvard a 5-4 Big Northern Conference East Division win against Marengo on Tuesday.

Chase Blazier did not give up a hit in 11⁄3 innings of relief to earn the win for the Hornets (18-5 overall, 5-2 BNC East). Blazier also doubled and scored two runs. Harvard’s Colin Carpenter doubled and scored two runs.

Jarvis Hernandez drove in two runs for the Indians (3-20, 0-7).

Burlington Central 7, Richmond-Burton 2: At Burlington, Tyler Volling went 2 for 3 for R-B (11-14, 2-4) in a BNC East loss.

Jacobs 23, Chicago Clemente (5 inn.): At Chicago, Ben Albano homered twice, doubled, scored five runs and drove in seven for the Golden Eagles in a non-conference win.

Also for Jacobs (10-10-1), Brad Mertins hit a grand slam, and Matt Schmidt homered.

Wauconda 11, Johnsburg 8: At Wauconda, Trevor Cherwin doubled and had four RBIs for the Skyhawks (7-15) in a non-conference loss.

Harlem 11, McHenry 8: At Machesney Park, Gene Pila hit two doubles for the Warriors (15-6) in a non-conference loss.

North Boone 12, Hampshire 9: At Hampshire, Ryan DeChant doubled and drove in three runs for the Whip-Purs (12-10, 4-2) in a BNC East loss.

Rockford Christian Life 13, Alden-Hebron 11: At Hebron, Shane Engelbrecht tripled, homered and drove in two runs for the Giants (1-17, 1-6) in a Northeastern Athletic Conference loss.

TENNIS

CL South 6, Prairie Ridge 1: At Crystal Lake, Cam Laktash won at No. 1 singles as the Gators won the Fox Valley Conference match. Brad Wiegand and Dan Arnold won at No. 2 doubles for South (15-0, 11-0).

Quinn Revak and Brandon Curtis won at No. 1 doubles for the Wolves.

Johnsburg 4, Grayslake North 3: At Johnsburg, Brayton Regner and Colin Goulet won at No. 1 doubles as the Skyhawks swept the doubles matches in getting the FVC win.

Matt Wells and Brandon Hansen won at No. 2 doubles for Johnsburg (13-2, 9-2).

CL Central 6, Woodstock North 1: At Crystal Lake, Tommy Nelson won at No. 1 singles to lead the Tigers (4-10, 1-9) to an FVC win. Pabhawin Srisinsuphya won at No. 3 singles for the Thunder (1-13, 0-10).

Cary-Grove 6, Woodstock 1: At Cary, Chris Federighi won at No. 1 singles as the Trojans won the FVC dual meet.

Matt Butler added a win at No. 2 singles for C-G (4-11, 3-7). Cam Fabian and Cameron Fyfe won at No. 4 doubles for the Blue Streaks.

Dundee-Crown 4, Huntley 3: At Huntley, Patrick Buch won at No. 2 singles to lead the Chargers (4-10, 1-9) to their first FVC win. Tanner Novalinski won at No. 1 singles for the Red Raiders (8-10, 1-9).

Marian Central 3, Wheaton Academy 2: At Woodstock, Riley Waters won at No. 1 singles as the Hurricanes won the Suburban Christian Conference dual meet. Aaron Waters added a win at No. 2 singles for Marian.

TRACK

Harvard Triangular: Andy Kick won the 100 meters (11.6 seconds) and the 200 (25.3) to lead Harvard to a first-place finish with 92 points.

Matt Harrah won the high jump (5 feet, 10 inches) and long jump (18-111⁄2) for Marengo, which was third (35). Genoa-Kingston had 59 points.

WATER POLO

McHenry 11, Waubonsie Valley 9: At McHenry, Reilly Shanahan scored six goals as the Warriors won the match. Dylan Clohessy added two goals for McHenry (25-4).
