Chamberlain pitches Johnsburg past D-C

JOHNSBURG – Mary Chamberlain (6-10) struck out seven, walked none and earned the victory as Johnsburg’s softball team beat Dundee-Crown, 5-3, on Wednesday in a Fox Valley Conference crossover.

Jordi Vorisek went 3 for 4 with two runs scored, a triple, and an RBI to lead the Skyhawks (9-16) against the Chargers (1-18).

CL Central 11, McHenry 1 (6 inn.): At Crystal Lake, Brittany York went 2 for 5 with three RBIs, and Amy Rink went 1 for 2 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Tigers (17-7) in their FVC crossover win.

Brenda Botzenhart went
1 for 3 with an RBI to lead the Warriors (9-11).

Cary-Grove 15, Grayslake Central 1 (5 inn.): At Grayslake, Abbe Wienckowski and Alexis Haley each homered and combined to drive in five runs in the Trojans’ FVC crossover win against the Rams (5-17).

Emma Gaulke was the complete-game winner and went 2 for 3 for C-G (19-6).

Jacobs 14, Woodstock North 3 (5 inn.): At Woodstock, Kara Arceneaux went 2 for 3 with a double, home run and five RBIs, and Jenna Teson went 2 for 3 for the Golden Eagles (14-7) in their FVC crossover win.

Kendyl Schwebke went 2 for 3 to lead the Thunder (10-16).

CL South 19, Woodstock 0 (5 inn.): At Woodstock, Vicki Pyan went 3 for 4 with three RBIs, and Shannon McGinnis went 3 for 5 with two RBIs as the Gators (9-12) beat the Blue Streaks (3-19) in an FVC crossover.

Harvard 10, Alden-Hebron 2: At Harvard, Carlie Gabrys went 3 for 3 with a run, triple, double and an RBI, and Sam Herley went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs as the Hornets (16-7) defeated the Giants in non-conference action.

Hayli Lagerhausen went
1 for 2 to lead A-H (17-10).

BASEBALL

Grayslake North 6, Woodstock 2: At Woodstock, Tyler Weiss went 2 for 4, Tanner Sandall went 2 for 2, and the Blue Streaks (7-17, 2-13) lost to the Knights (6-20, 5-10) in FVC Fox Division play.

Grayslake Central 17, Woodstock North 1 (5 inn.): At Grays-lake, the Rams (17-6, 11-4) exploded for 17 runs in the first two innings and beat the Thunder (4-17, 0-15) in FVC Fox play.

Johnsburg 26, Marengo 7 (5 inn.): At Marengo, Trevor Cherwin went 3 for 5 with a double and five RBIs, and Michael Molway and George Bielis each homered and drove in four runs to lead the Skyhawks (8-15) in their non-conference win against the Indians.

Ryan Hoff went 3 for 3 with a double and three RBIs to lead Marengo (3-21).

Jacobs 23, Westminster Christian 12 (5 inn.): At Algonquin, the Golden Eagles won a non-conference matchup that featured 35 runs and 33 hits.

Ben Albano went 4 for 4 with five runs scored, three home runs and nine RBIs to lead Jacobs (11-10-1).

St. Francis 3, Hampshire 1: At Wheaton, Tyler Crater went 1 for 3 with a triple, and Dylan Nihells went 1 for 2 in the Whip-Purs’ non-conference loss. Shane Hernandez (2-1) struck out five in a complete game for the Whips (12-11).

CL South 7, Deerfield 3: At Crystal Lake, Ryan Price earned his first win of the season, giving up one run in three innings of relief in the Gators’ non-conference win.

Billy Wright and Greg Pagnotta each went 2 for 3 for the Gators (14-9).

BOYS TENNIS

Jefferson 4, Marengo 1: Austin Brettschneider and Gavin Smith won at No. 2 singles, and the Indians (0-14) lost a non-conference match.
