Wismer, R-B big winners

MARENGO – Richmond-Burton edged Belvidere North by five points Thursday to win the 10-team Ed Reeves Invitational.

Kyle Wismer won the long jump (19 feet, 8 inches) and the 400 meters (51.75 seconds) for R-B (146 points), and the Rockets won four other events.

R-B’s Matt Marzahl won the high jump (6-2), Kenny Riordan won the triple jump (38-0), Ryne Pearson won the 110 high hurdles (11.34) and the Pearson, Wismer, Justin Russell and Chad O’Kane won the 4x100 (44.19).

Alden-Hebron’s Zack Kleven won the discus (141-3 1/2), and Woodstock’s Mike Kremske won the 800 (2:01.38).

Harvard finished the meet in third (69 points). Woodstock finished fifth with 45 points, Marengo (30) took sixth, Johnsburg (20.5) took eighth and A-H (19) was ninth.


BASEBALL

Prairie Ridge 4, CL Central 1: At Crystal Lake, Prairie Ridge’s Corey Peterson pitched all seven innings, striking out seven and walking one, in a Fox Valley Conference Fox Division win for the Wolves (18-8 overall, 12-3 FVC Fox). Dylan Cysewski struck out 10 and walked three for the Tigers (14-10, 6-8).

Grayslake Central 12, Woodstock North 0 (6 inn.): At Woodstock, Ryan Baltes sustained his second loss of the season for the Thunder (4-18, 0-16) in an FVC Fox game.

Grayslake North 7, Woodstock 6: At Grayslake, Tony DiMaio took the loss for the Blue Streaks (7-18, 2-14) in FVC Fox play.

CL South 4, Carmel 0: At Crystal Lake, Mike Benson (4-1) pitched a complete-game, four-hit shutout and earned the non-conference win for the Gators (15-9).

McHenry 1, Gurnee Warren 0: At McHenry, Jon Feilen (4-0) struck out eight and earned the non-conference win for Warriors (16-6) against the Blue Devils.

Richmond-Burton 10, Marengo 4: At Marengo, Bryan Leslie limited the Indians to four hits and pitched a complete game to earn the Big Northern Conference East Division win for the Rockets (12-14, 3-4). Parker Johnston went 2 for 2 with an RBI, and Matt Malecki went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs to lead R-B. Jarvis Hernandez went 2 for 4 to lead Marengo (3-22, 0-8).

Hampshire 4, Harvard 1: At Hampshire, the Whip-Purs’ Luke Wians pitched a complete game two-hitter and allowed only one unearned run against the Hornets (12-12, 4-3 BNC East) in BNC East Division play. Tyler Crater went 1 for 3 with two RBIs for Hampshire (13-11, 5-2).

Rockford Christian Life 5, Alden-Hebron 2: At Rockford, Cody Eskridge pitched six innings and struck out six, but the Giants (1-17, 1-7) lost to the Eagles in Northeastern Athletic Conference action.

Antioch 7, Cary-Grove 6 (10 inn.): At Cary, Nick Richter went 2 for 4 with three RBIs, but the Trojans (15-9) lost in non-conference action.


TENNIS

Cary-Grove 7, Woodstock North 0: At, Woodstock, Chris Federighi won his No. 1 singles match, and Matt Butler won his No. 2 singles match for Cary-Grove, as the Trojans (5-11, 4-7) beat Woodstock North (1-14, 0-11) in FVC play.

Mike Scott and Mike Barrett of C-G won at No. 1 doubles, 6-3, 6-2.

CL Central 4, Johnsburg 3: At Johnsburg, Tommy Nelson won at No. 1 singles, Tyler George won at No. 2 singles and the Tigers defeated the Skyhawks in FVC action. Brayton Regner and Colin Goulet won at No. 1 doubles for Johnsburg (13-3, 9-3).

CL South 7, Grayslake Central 0: At Grayslake, Ryan Kinross (No. 3 singles) and Alex Zelasko and Brandon Jarva (No. 3 doubles) won their matches, and the Gators (16-0, 12-0) swept the Rams in FVC action.

Grayslake Central 4, Jacobs 3: At Grayslake, Brian Kaczar and Kinchit Joshi won at No. 2 doubles, and Brandon Sidor and Kingsley Bernardo won at No. 4 doubles for the Golden Eagles in their FVC loss to the Knights (15-3, 9-3).

Marian Central 5, St. Edward 0: At Elgin, Riley Waters (No. 1) and Aaron Waters (No. 2) each won their singles matches, and the Hurricanes defeated the Green Wave in Suburban Christian Conference play.
