


Harvard’s Kramer sets records in win at G-KGENOA – Harvard’s Coty Kramer set three meet records and two school records to help the Hornets win the nine-team Genoa-Kingston Invitational on Saturday. Kramer set meet and school records in the long jump (21 feet, 4 inches) and the 100-meter dash (10.8 seconds), and a meet record in the 200 (22.68). Harvard won the meet with 191 points. Keenan Baldwin set a meet record for the Hornets in the pole vault (12-3), and David Martinez won in the 110 high hurdles (16.40) and the 300 intermediate hurdles (44.07). Harvard’s 4x200 relay team of Andy Kick, Matt Smith, Patrick Wilkening and Zach Fiegel won with a time of 1:36.66. Alden-Hebron’s Zack Kleven won the shot put (45-2) and the discus (139-05), and the Giants tied for seventh place with 28 points. BASEBALL Woodstock North 5-11, Lake Forest Academy 2-0: At Lake Forest, Tyler Loesher (nine strikeouts) and Eddie Bauer (10 strikeouts) picked up wins for the Thunder (6-18) in a non-conference doubleheader sweep against the Chiefs. James Quick went 3 for 4 and was a home run short of a cycle in Game 1, and Shane Zieman had two RBIs in Game 2. Marian Central 11-3, Chicago Christian 0-3: At Woodstock, the Hurricanes split two games in a Suburban Christian Conference crossover against the Knights. Dave Luczak (4-1) earned the win in Game 1, pitching a shutout with 16 strikeouts. Karl Steiger hit two home runs and had six RBIs in the first game for the Hurricanes (17-8). Dave Parr (6-2) struck out 10 in Game 2. Lakes 9, Marengo 3: At Marengo, Jarvis Hernandez went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, but the Indians (3-23) lost in non-conference action. GIRLS TRACK Genoa-Kingston Invitational: At Genoa, Harvard (71 points) finished fourth, and Alden-Hebron (37) took sixth in the nine-team meet. Emily Scott won the shot put (33-5) and took second in the discus (94-5) for the Hornets, and Kassie Wallner won the 100 (13.69). For Alden-Hebron, Lacy Beck won the 100 high hurdles (17.10). Genoa-Kingston won the meet with 191 points. SOFTBALL Marengo Tournament: At Marengo, the host Indians (28-3) won both of their games Saturday and will play in the championship game against Andrew on May 22. In its first game, Marengo beat Fenton, 5-0, behind a one-hit complete game shutout by Chloe Montgomery (3-0), who struck out 10. Reed Karsten went 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Marengo beat Vernon Hills, 8-2, in its second game with Mattie McGuire (8-1) striking out six. Amanda Hart went 3 for 5 with four RBIs. Chicago Christian 13-7, Marian Central 11-1: At Palos Heights, the Hurricanes (10-13) lost both of their SCC crossover games. Marian’s Kaitlyn Bliss went 4 for 4 with a home run, double and two RBIs in Game 1.
