Harvard’s Kramer, R-B’s Sanchez star at BNC Meet

HAMPSHIRE – Harvard’s Coty Kramer won three events, and Richmond-Burton’s Ian Sanchez took two at the Big Northern Conference Boys Track and Field Meet on Friday.

Kramer won the long jump and the 100- and 200-meter dashes as the Hornets finished in fourth place with 58 points. The Rockets took third with 104 points, with Sanchez winning the 800 and 1,600.

Winnebago won the meet with 126.5 points.

R-B’s Kyle Wismer won the 400, and the foursome of Ryne Pearson, Josh Eisenberg, Justin Russell and Chad O’Kane won the 4x200 relay for R-B.

Marengo finished 10th with 13 points. Joe Janssen took second for the Indians in the 100, and Torben Hoffmeyer took fourth in the 1,600.

BASEBALL

Harvard 3, Antioch 1: At Harvard, Chase Blazier and Patrick Towne each had RBI doubles for the Hornets in their non-conference win against the Sequoits.

Colin Carpenter earned the win, allowing one earned run in seven innings for Harvard (20-7).

CL South 9, Dundee-Crown 4: At Crystal Lake, Billy Wright and Chris Hauser each hit two-run home runs in the third inning in the Gators’ Fox Valley Conference Valley Division win.

Nick Martin earned the win for the Gators (18-10 overall, 12-6 FVC Valley), giving up three runs in six innings. Nick Spagnola and Scott Nowicke each had homered for the Chargers (1-21, 0-14).

Prairie Ridge 7, Grayslake North 0: At Crystal Lake, Zach Siedlecki went 3 for 3 with two doubles, a home run and four RBIs in Prairie Ridge’s FVC Fox win. Andrew Kovarik earned the win for the Wolves (19-8, 14-3).

Woodstock 9, Johnsburg 3: At Woodstock, Tim Ciskow-ski hit two doubles and had two RBIs in the Blue Streaks’ FVC Fox win.

Tanner Sandall threw five innings for Woodstock (9-20, 3-16 FVC Fox), giving up two earned runs. C.J. Hernandez went 3 for 4 for the Skyhawks (10-17, 6-10).

Woodstock North 7, Rockford Christian 6: At Woodstock, Nate Meyer and James Quick each had two RBIs in the Thunder’s non-conference win, which ended on a squeeze bunt by Meyer.

Eddie Bauer earned the win for Woodstock North (7-20), giving up one earned run in three innings of relief.

Grayslake Central 6, CL Central 1: At Grayslake, Tony Castranova went 2 for 2 with a walk and a run scored in the Tigers’ FVC Fox loss to the Rams. Ian Buckingham took the loss for the Tigers (16-12, 8-10 FVC Fox).

Jacobs 7, Cary-Grove 4: At Algonquin, Tim Roth earned his first win of the season for the Golden Eagles, striking out four in 52⁄3 innings in an FVC Valley win.

Anthony Virgilio and Ben Albano each homered for Jacobs (14-13-1, 8-10 FVC Valley). Michael Vilardo was 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs for the Trojans (17-11, 12-6).
