Taylor Larson earned her 17th win, allowing three runs on five hits and striking out three. Larson also was 1 for 2 for the Red Raiders (19-10 overall, 11-4 FVC Valley). Ashley Morales and Kelsey Peterson each went 1 for 3 with an RBI for Jacobs (17-11, 10-5). Prairie Ridge 5, Woodstock North 0: At Crystal Lake, Kirsten Stevens struck out 12 and allowed two hits as the Wolves (22-9, 16-1) beat the Thunder (10-21, 7-11) in FVC Fox play. IHSA Class 1A South Beloit Regional: At Harvard, the Hornets beat Rockford Christian, 13-2, to advance to the final Saturday against either North Boone or Rockford Christian Life, which will meet today in the other semifinal. Michaela Binz and Brittany Finke each went 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs for the Hornets (21-9). IHSA Class 1A South Beloit Regional: At South Beloit, Hayli Lagerhausen, Carisa Stauss and Candace Damato each had a hit for Alden-Hebron (20-12) as it lost to Orangeville, 10-0, in a five-inning semifinal. CL South 7, McHenry 1: At Crystal Lake, Vicki Pyan was 2 for 4 with a double, and Liz Adams was 3 for 4 for the Gators (12-15, 5-10) in their FVC Valley win against the Warriors (10-16, 6-10). Cary-Grove 10, Dundee-Crown 0 (5 inn.): At Cary, Lindsay Efflandt picked up her 21st win, striking out seven in the Trojans’ FVC Valley win against D-C (1-23, 0-16). Emma Gaulke had three RBIs for C-G (25-6, 14-1). CL Central 10, Woodstock 2: At Woodstock, Brittany York went 5 for 5 with two triples, a double, four RBIs and two runs as Crystal Lake Central (22-7, 15-2) beat Woodstock (6-21, 4-10) in FVC Fox play. St. Francis 12, Marian Central 2 (6 inn.): At Wheaton, Leah Diaz had a home run and a double for the Hurricanes (10-11, 3-4) in a Suburban Christian Conference Blue Division loss. GIRLS SOCCER IHSA Class 2A Marengo Regional: At Woodstock, Haylee Moscato made five saves as Hampshire beat Woodstock, 5-0, in a semifinal. Emily Zeller, Kelsey Burke, Cassie Dumoulin, Alex Field and Karla Vietinghoff scored for the Whip-Purs (18-5-1) against the Blue Streaks (8-13). Hampshire will play today’s Marian Central-Marengo semifinal winner in the final Friday. IHSA 3A Jefferson Regional: At Rockford, Aimee Wronski scored two first-half goals and had an assist to lead Huntley (20-3-1) to an 8-0 victory against Rockford Auburn in a semifinal. The Red Raiders will play the winner of today’s Guilford-Jefferson semifinal in the final Friday. BASEBALL Cary-Grove 5, CL South 4: At Cary, Michael Vilardo and Matt Panek each had two hits and two RBIs for the Trojans (20-11, 15-6) in an FVC Valley win against the Gators (19-12, 13-8). First-place Cary-Grove moved a game ahead of McHenry and Huntley in the race for the Valley title. IMSA 10, Alden-Hebron 0 (5 inn.): At Aurora, Shane Engelbrecht had the lone hit for the Giants (4-19, 2-9) in their Northeastern Athletic Conference loss. Prairie Ridge 11, Johnsburg 1 (5 inn.): At Crystal Lake, Jon Williams and Zach Siedlecki each had two RBIs for the Wolves (20-10, 15-5) in their FVC Fox Division win against the Skyhawks (11-18, 7-13). CL Central 9, Woodstock North 1: At Woodstock, John Nemcek gave up two hits and fanned 12 for the Tigers (18-13, 10-11) in their FVC Fox win against the Thunder (7-23, 0-21).
